“Very enjoyable stay”

We had a bad start, the luggage was severely damaged before take off spent 2 hrs at Lanzarote airport sorting it out with Ryan Air !
Arrived at Las Gaviotas, the superior bungalow we had booked wasn't available due to a water problem. we were put in Block 7 room 6 not a good room, the door wouldn't open easily and it was very shabby inside, we were give two free meals as compensation for the downgraded room, next day we moved to block2 room 20. not a good position if you like the sun as there is a large tree in the garden, we requested to be moved and the next day we were given one in a much better position. The girls and young man in reception were lovely and very helpful which was nice.

We were pleased we had chosen a superior bungalow as it had a very comfy sofa, flat screen TV with Sky News, Disney channel and some movie channels in English, the A/C/heating unit was over the bedroom door, so on very cold nights which were many the living room was quite cold, my only criticism is that we would have liked a heater , we did ask the manager but were refused and told to leave the bedroom door open for the heat to warm the living areas.we should have taken heavier sweaters, we didn't anticipate it being so cold. which after the sun went down or on cloudy days there was a very cold wind,
That is only a minor problem, we loved the Gaviotas and will definitely stay there again, it was convenient for shops restaurants etc in the shopping centre, very close to the lovely flat seafront which was traffic free (apart from Cyclists) we walked to Playa Honda, Arrecife and Puerto Carmen, thr bus stop was a short walk away, we bought a bono card for 20 euros and travelled to Playa Blanca twice, Costa Teguise, and Arrecife etc. It was a very relaxing holiday in a peaceful location. We love the whole island it was our first time there after many years going to the north in Tenerife every January we were very impressed with everything

Room Tip: Choose a superior room for comfort

“Good Value for money”

Good value for money, we have been many times so knew what to expect. The apartments are clean & have all your need. If you want to use the safe or tv you have to pay extra which we already knew.

Only down side was our toilet in the bathroom broke & water kept coming out from the bottom of the basin and we were unable to use it, they did fix it same evening & told us not to put any paper down it!! We were there for 2 weeks and this happened twice in the first week. After that we only used it when it was really necessary which did put a downer on the apartment.

We were in block 8, I think some of the other blocks may have been renovated

Very close to the beach and restaurants so excellent location. Was close to the airport of did get woken up by the planes, 1st one was at 7.40am

Its about a 45 walk to the center of Puerto del Carman and an hour to the old town.

“xmas and new year holiday 2011-2012”

las gaviotas bungalows are in 8 different sites, we stayed at site no 7 room 4. the swimming pool was right outside our door and was heated. rooms very spacious and spotlessly clean but quite cold at night even with an extra blanket. we had microwave, toaster, kettle and 2 ring cooker, hairdryer in bathroom. tv was 4euro per day or 21 per week 10 euro deposit for remote control, safety box 17.50 per week and10 deposit for key. internet in reception was 1euro for 20 minutes. staff very friendly, cleaner came in 3 days a week, changed towels twice in a week and changes sheets once a week. Matagorda is very clean and flat, 5 mins from airport, takes about 1 hour 15 mins to walk into puerto del carmen. local bar called Gee Gees is friendly irish bar and quite cheap. Japanese restaurent is not to be missed. About 10 mins walk on the sea front brings you to the Anchor bar that has a quiz, bingo and pig racing on fridays, elvis on tuesdays, say hello to keith and lorraine who will make you very welcome. all in all a fab holiday and we would definately return. Enjoy :-)

“Fabulous!”

Before going, I read the reviews on here and was quite concerned, however once we got there I was instantly put at ease. Receptionist was lovely, and although we had to wait for the minibus to take us round to the apartment, it really wasn't bad. Was quite amused by the garden chair in the back of the minivan!!

Room was basic - but that's precisely what we paid for. Could have done with an oven, but then again you don't go on holiday to cook! Maids cleaned every day, sheets and towels were changed on time. Can't remember now which block we stayed in, though I think it was seven. Pool was absolutely freezing, but with the beach nearby I spent little time there. The terrace was gorgeous, a real sun-trap and we quite enjoyed our plane-spotting. Local facilities were good - there's a little Italian restaurant in the Centre Commercial, right next door to the Mexican - that I'd really recommend, the staff are absolutely lovely and the food is dirt-cheap and yet good quality.

There are feral cats around, but they're entirely harmless. We adopted one cat for a week until she over-extended herself by inviting herself in to our apartment. There was also a very cute family of kittens by the pool in the evenings.

If you're expecting amazing service and legendary entertainment, this hotel and indeed Matagorda, are not for you. If you're willing to just rock up and chill out, I'd really recommend it. Nice one!

Just returned on the 7/1/12 from 2 weeks at the Las Gaviotas Bungalows,The holiday was good in its self nice sunny weather got a good tan. We,my wife and i we went all inclusive but all inclusive it is not more like snack inclusive when it comes to the food not a great choice more like snack bar food, but saying that the staff were very good polite and pleasant. We got a bungalow in block 4 with a great sea view, but the rooms were basic although cleaned 5 times a week but not very well.the bungalows were a good base if you dont expect too much as the area is very quiet.

Room Tip: Go for blocks 1 and 4
