“Great Staff but disappointing rooms, breakfast, services”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We arrived late and were given a 'room' which was disappointing as we had requested a room near to the sea or with a sea-view. However we went back to the reception and the girl was very nice and helpful. We were moved to a room right down at the boundary of the property - near the gate leading onto the beach. The rooms themselves are unusual. they are more like room-appartments - very small appartments with your own entrance (a glass sliding door, leading to a small outside sun lounger area). Thus it is somewhat of an unconventional hotel - but this was not a problem for us. However, the breakfast was limited to typical German/Austrian/Swiss style fare and nothing else. Cold meat selection and cheese. To top it off, the Poolside shop was very limited for snacks - forcing us out of the hotel for a second time each day... so we were disappointed from this perspective.
The pool and loungers are a little dated and the hotel would be regarded as a 2-3 star max by our standards.

“Think twice if you only speak English.”

Three couples ahead of us when booking in - no problem.
When it came to our turn, we were completing the process when a German resident butted in with a request. The receptionist then immediately left us standing and dealt with the German for 3 to 4 minutes - not very professional and a poor first impression!
Our "Superior" room overlooked two rooftops but you could see the ocean if you were tall enough.
Breakfast - only small Tea plates available to use to collect and eat your food off. I have never encountered this in any other hotel. The toasting machine was rubbish and required 4 cycles to create toast.
A sign on the "Dining room" door warns that any food removed from that location will be charged to the residents bill - I thought that this was petty and cheap.
Not much atmosphere about the place for the English speakers - I only heard German.
Cleanliness - excellent.
Food - average.
Location - good.
I do not understand why it is as high as number 2 on this sight.
Think long and hard before choosing this hotel if you are English speaking and under 60.

“Lovely hotel right next to the sea”

20 of us girls arrived for a long weekend and were disappointed to hear that they didnt have reservations for us all...... BUT they did good and within 2 hours we were all located into rooms and given complimentary drinks at the pool bar... Location was just perfect for a stroll and easy access further afield via taxis. The staff were very friendly always wanting to help in any way. The buffet breakfast had everything you could think of, although personally I did miss my smoked salmon..... And it was champagne on Sunday morning too! Definitely recommended and would revisit.

“Would go back”

if I had a deal......the hotel is a good 10 minute walk to the main drag in PDC, so if you are only on a B&B basis be prepared for a walk in the evning.
The rooms and breakfast are what you would expect. It is the staff that make this place. Christina on main reception was wonderful throughout our whole stay and this hotel recives the accolade of BEST MAID SERVICE EVER! (in my opinion). Our room was serviced every day by Sandra before 10am, if we passed her 1st thing in the morning on the way to breakfast or out for a walk our room was serviced by the time we returned. Thank you!

Room Tip: If you request a high room please be prepared to climb a few steps.

“Lovely hotel in great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We were allocated a room on the first floor overlooking the pool and with a good view. The room was excellent, beautifully prepared and with all the facilities we needed, including a microwave oven. The only problem with the room was that it was in the shade most of the time although if one stepped outside the patio area the problem was solved. Rooms on the opposite side of the pool had no problem. The food was first class with an excellent choice from the buffet at breakfast and with a wide choice from the changing menu for the evening meal. The bar prices were reasonable for a 4 star hotel and the bar staff were all very pleasant at all times. In fact all the staff from the receptionists to the cleaners were always pleasant and happy to help. The only small grouse was about the entertainment which could do with improvement.
I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone and if we do go back to Lanzarote we will certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: Try to obtain a room on the first floor on the left hand side of the pool when looking out to sea to...
