“Should be a great experience but isn’t”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

This seems to be one of these places that proudly advertise in the lobby how many Tripadvisor stars they accumulated, and once they achieve this status stop to care about their customers.
Don’t get me wrong, this could be a great place. The units are new, clean, comfortable and a nice size but they are just to many things going wrong in this place.

It started at check in. We reserved a double bed but they didn’t have any knowledge of that. To be fair they did sort it out strangely enough not by moving us to a room with a double bed but by moving the complete double bed from one room to another.

They couldn’t provide me with a map, I had to buy one

The Wifi in the room only worked if I held my computer against the outside window, all other places had no reception.

We travel with a 2 year old and in between our frontdoor and the playground was our little patio. This place was covered in glass so I couldn’t let our little girl play there. I called reception and they were going to send someone right away, Nobody ever came. I saw the guy responsible for this, cleaning another patio and showed him the problem. He was going to take care of it, but of course didn’t. He kept walking back and forth trying to ignore us. In the meantime we had to lock our daughter inside the room (honestly) it was just too dangerous for her to come out and play. Finally my wife borrowed some gloves and on her hands and knees collected 39 pieces of glass, all at our frontdoor !
Somehow this isn’t what guests are supposed to do the first they of their holiday.

The kitchen hood was not working, they were going to take care of it, but of course didn’t.

Strangely enough no one ever said hello while meeting you wihin the hotel, they completely ignored you.

Nowhere in the room is there a guide on how to use the complicated phone or even what the number of the reception was (200 if you are curious but not an obvious one to guess)

There is a complicated bureaucratic system on when to clean, when to change sheets, when to change towels, all of the above change on different days for one strange reason.
We had some dirty pool towels but were told we couldn’t change them because it wasn’t the right day. But they are dirty I tried – Yes Sir, was the response but they got dirty on the wrong day. If only they got dirty yesterday. Excuse me ??? I couldn’t believe my ears.

Get your act together guys !

Dear Guest:
We are sorry your overall satisfaction did not reach hundred per cent.
I must say that we are proud of the Tripadvisor stars shown at the lobby. To us it is a reminder of the good job done that we intend to keep up with.

Double beds are subject to availability and if you do the reservation direct with us we take note of it but us you do the reservation by travel agency, some time we don’t receive your request.
In any case standard or one bedroomed apartment are not equipped with them this is why we have extra mattresses to satisfy your request when you request.

About the maps of the islands, we offer the ones we have on sale.

As you know we offer free Wi-Fi in all the resort, not in the apartments the Wi-Fi signal is weaker depending on how many people is connected at the same time. It is true that sometimes we have lost the signal at all. In those cases we call our Wi-Fi providers in order to sort out those incidences to give you our best service as usual. As you know for emergency you have to your disposal the internet point extra charge.

We are really sorry that glass was not collected as soon as you let us know.
I understand your concern in this issue. We definitely will find out what happened as well as the problem with the hood in the apartment so we can make sure It will not happen again.
As members of the Biosphere and Responsible Turism Hotels, one of our major concerns is the environment. This is why we get careful control about water and detergent use. Our guest has three towels change per week and there is a charge for extra changes when they are need. I’m sure that your towels getting dirty on the wrong day were due to some kind of misunderstanding.

Again we regret you were not hundred per cent satisfied with the service provided, And we hope you and your family will give us another chance, please contact us directly next time.
Best regards
Leda Giordano

“Excellent choice for a pleasant stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

I have just spent a few days with my children at Nautilus Lanzarote. This resort is very quiet, staff are friendly and the overall atmosphere is excellent for family holidays. I had read some reviews in the Russian language websites and I find that all positive comments are justified.

Lanzarote itself is a unique and beautiful island. At Nautilus you feel relaxed, almost as if you were at home. I especially valued this being there with my children. Moreover, the resort is very conveniently located near the promenade, so you can enjoy the sea and beaches and take a bicycle ride or roller-skate, for example.

You may miss the possibility to have lunch in the restaurant, but otherwise the apartments are very well fitted with all necessary cooking equipment.

By the way, one of my kids forgot his iPad in the apartment; I called Nautilus from the airport and they were so kind to send a person to bring it to me! I wish to express my thanks to reception staff.

Room Tip: Apartments in the far end of the resort are very quiet and have a nice view on the sea.

We totally agree with you about Lanzarote being such a beautiful Island.
Facilities like hiring bicycles or roller-skate as well as having a commercial centre so near Nautilus always comes handy.

“A terrific place to celebrate New Year.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We had a wonderful stay at the Nautilus Bungalows. We arrived at noon on Hogmanay and were able to get into our accommodation immediately. It was very clean and well equipped; with the small kitchen area having everything you could need for a holiday break. Rooms are very secure and bright and airy.

As a family of four, with a 2-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son we found the place very safe and child friendly. The pool is great - if a little cold for this time of year. This didn’t stop us all going in for a dip 3 times a day. There is also a very nice play area for the kids at the top of the resort. The gardens are beautifully tended, with some eye catching sculpures dotted about among the palms and hibiscus trees.

The beach is a short walk away and we enjoyed our evening palm tree lined promenades to the restaurants very much. There is a great choice for places to eat in Matagorda or you can get even more choice in Puerto del Carmen which is a good walk or 5 minutes in a taxi.

If you want more of a party atmosphere then Puerto del Carmen is the place for you.

Nautilus is a lovely quiet resort perfect for families with kids. Very friendly and helpful staff. There is an excellently stocked supermarket on site.
We have just returned last night and are already talking about booking a bungalow again at Nautilus for next New Year!

Top tips:
Bring some long trousers and a few jumpers, as the evenings can get a bit cold.

Families with small children - There are very few English speaking TV channels but I found Disney on Channel 66, which had Disney Junior in the mornings. This can buy parents some precious extra dozing time!

Don’t bother with a bus transfer from the airport, as it is a short journey by taxi to Matagorda, which is much cheaper and more convenient.

If you can get out in a hire car, Lanzarote is a great place to explore. Set off early to get to the tourist sites before the bus tours arrive. It can get really busy after 11am. Check out Cesar Manrique’s House and the Timanfaya lava fields. Haria is a highlight too.

Dear Guests,
We are very glad that you found Nautilus Lanzarote so convenient and we thank you for posting your comments. We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us.
The area of Matagorda provides with quite a wide range of services. Apart from, of course, the nearness of Matagorda beach you can find, shops, restaurants, bars within short walking distance.

Though the children swimming pool is heated perhaps the thermal sensation can be a little chillier. Our winter average temperature allows to have a swim or two.

Hoping to seeing back in Lanzarote. We send our best wishes to you and your family.

This is our third time staying at Nautilus we stayed for 4 weeks from 10th of december to the 7th of January. We have never had any problems while staying there. The staff are all very frendly and very helpful if you need anything or have a query they always sort it out for you. the apartments are very well kept and clean. There is everything you need in the kitchen if you stay in at night you can make yourself a meal because it has a full kitchen. The gardens are kept very neat and tidy. There are books you can swop which are kept in a tidy order. It is also handy that they have a washer and dryer if you go out for a long time it is nice to be able to wash and dry your clothes on site. It has always been quite and peaceful whenever we have stayed there. A great place just to relax. We would recomend nautilus to anyone and everyone. it is 5 mins walk to the beach and shopping center although nautilus has a supermarket on site which we found very good and the staff in the shop are always frendly and helpful.

Room Tip: the higher rooms are good if you are not a pool person they are out of the way and are more private.

“lovely peaceful holiday”

I shared a bungalow with a friend for 2 weeks and really enjoyed the holiday. Scrupulously clean place with manicured gardens and our own patio. Staff were friendly welcoming and very accommodating offering late checkout as soon as they saw we were booked on an evening flight home. It was very quiet and with a super swimming pool. Beach and restaurants 5 minutes away. We were delighted. Full marks as well for environmentally friendly efforts. Not a place for a wild social life but ideal if you want peace and quiet.
