“Good place, good service, average location”

My girlfriend and I stayed in Villas don Rafael for a week with our 3 months old son.
The 12 similar villas are nice, each of them has a private pool and perfect seaview. Ana, the manager, is really nice. If you ask her, she can arrange a rental car at your villa.
The pools are NOT heated so when the daily temparture is 20-25 degrees in the sun the water is just too cold to enjoy it any longer than a quick 'in-and-out'. If the water was heated this would really make it the perfect spot.

The beach is approx. 500 m straight down the road. Back up takes you about 10 -15 min.
The old part of town, near the harbor, is approx. 20 - 30 min away on foot. Back up, obviously, takes you a bit longer. If you go there, have dinner at Bodeco's, and ask if you can have a table upstairs. It's the most romantic spot you'll find in PdC and the food is homemade and very tasty.

Rooms are clean. double bathroom is nice alltough hot water runs out quickly. When it does, you have to waith 15-30 min before ou can take another shower.
Dishwasher and washing machine included.
During high season , when temp is 30 degrees, we might stay here again, otherwise the pool is just to cold.

For short, great but not perfect if you like to spend all day in the pool..

“Top Class”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2010

Stayed in one of these villas with 3 mates for a few nights and was blown away especially with the the pool area, there was 3 good sizes rooms 2 with single beds and one with a double .Great to be able to get straight out of bed and dive into your own pool on the bright warm morning, best way to start a day.Or chill out in the evening soaking up the views. It cost us about €390 for 3 nights which was about €33 each per night , the villa was clean with a lovely view from the back veranda overlooking the pool.Sunsets were spectacular over the mountains. It was a five minuite walk down to the strand, we never walked back up as the taxis are so cheap

“Great accomadation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

Found this holiday great and relaxing as we never stayed in a villa before.Allways stayed in apts or hotel no getting up running for sun beds or over crowded pools .This was so easy, going go to the pool when you want to plenty of room ten steps and your back in the villa.Villa were very clean and pool cleaned every few days in the morning at aruond 8 in the morning.Walking into old or new town is about 8 to 10 minutes, close to two supermartkets too.Very quit in night except for main bedroom which faces out onto main road but not that bad as you are about 40 feet from it and noise is faint.A taxi home at night is only 260euro as walk back is up a slight incline which is only at start from new town.Overall well worth it for the relaxation and comford of the villa and pool too.would go back again well worth it.

“Traffic noise and close neighbouring properties prevent 5 stars.”

There are at least 12 villas, all similar, located in residential area about 15 minute walk north of the town centre. Each villa has it's own pool - not heated. We were surprised to find that, even in July, the pool water was chilly. The villas face onto a new dual carriage way, so there is considerable traffic noise - especially in main bedroom. The pool area was lovely, but is overlooked by two other villas on left, and one on right. Luckily, two of these were vacant while we were there! Ana, who manages the day to day arrangements for the villas, is very helpful and obliging. The views from the veranda and pool areas (facing due south) are very good - Best food in the area was the Casa Roja down at the harbour.

“Villas Don Rafael yet again a pleasure to stay in.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2010

I will keep this short and too the point , these villas are without doubt the best we have stayed in , we were there 7 years ago and have very good memories off our visit then and then returned in Feb. 2010 at mid term break with one grandparent and our 4 children, boys aged 11 , 8,6 and little girl 3.One off the main worries was the swimming pool being near by with children but it is quite visible (from the villa we stayed in anyway) ,just need to be careful as with any pool that kids do not run as quite slippy on a hard surface, the pool was not heated but once in was great .
The villa its self is very spacious with 3 large bedrooms 1 ensuite and one large main bathroom, all villas have a washing machine , microwave , coffee maker, iron , hairdryer, TV ,DVD player and satellite TV, towels and bed sheets. Towels and be sheets were to be changed once during our stay but unfortunately the weather was not good during our visit so the towels were changed nearly daily. We had quite a few visits from Anna-Maria the manageress off the complex to make sure all was well during our visit.
The only down side some may see in the villas is the locality to the centre off the town , 10 minutes will take you to either the beach ,the shopping centre or the old town where the main restaurants are located, but there is a very steep hill in between , this did not bother us but may bother elderly .
If you want to eat out and you want quality stay away from the sea front and try El Tomate (eat in it twice and was excellent).
Would totally recommend these as a Luxurious villa in a nice area.
