We spent our last days in Italy at the Rivoli. They initially put us in a room that was very stuffy and hot. When I called to inform them that the air conditioner was not working, the waiter (who doubles as the maintenance man) told me it was working. That night I called again and the second waiter/mtce man informed me that the hotel is falling apart and others that day had the same complaint. They moved us to another room on the 5th floor, to which the elevator only goes to the 4th, whereby the air was working but water pressure was extremely low. This was a nicer room but overall we were not impressed with the hotel, which we booked using our Air Miles.
If you take the train in to Rome, and want to take the bus to the hotel, you need to get on bus 52 and get off at the Buozzi - Micelli stop (note there are two stops on Buozzi). You may need to transfer somewhere if you're leaving from the main train terminal. Unfortunately we were mislead by the bus info centre who put us on another bus and we had to ask people how to get to our hotel once we got off.
From the hotel, to go to the Colosseum, Tivoli Fountain and area, you need to take bus 52 across the street all they way to the last station, then it's about a 10-15 minute walk to the sites. To go the Vatican, you need to take bus 926 in the opposite direction to its end and then walk 10 minutes or so.
There is only one restaurant near the Tivoli that we could find, located down the street. We had to take a bus near the landmarks to find other restaurants.
Be careful, some restaurants will charge you dearly for wine (30 Euros+) while others are far more reasonable in the 12-15 Euro range for the same bottle of wine.
The Tivoli had a decent continental style breakfast each morning, that was included with our room, thus I have to give them kudos for this,
If you stay here, purchase extra bus passes because you'll need them each time you get on the bus, unless you're doing an immediate transfer. The passes are 1 Euro each and you can get them at the end stations.
