We were recommended to this hotel by a friend( now ex-friend) who lives in Spain. He recommended it for the proximity to the airport at Alicante, and that is true. But sleeping on the beach is also an option, as that is near the airport too. We were surprised to find the hotel on an industrial park, the architecture of the hotel suggested that it could be converted into a warehouse at a moments notice. To be fair the receptionist was very pleasant and spoke good English. The room was adequate and spotless. The main reception, come bar, come restaurant, was bland and soleless. As the hotel is on an industrial park there is nowhere to go, except by car. Therefore the only choice is to eat in the hotel. We looked at the menu and it seemed reasonable.I should add that there was also a group of Ryanair passengers who had been put up at the hotel as their flight was cancelled due to the volcanic ash. When we went in to eat they were already seated at a large table, we were seated at a table for two. I said to the waitress ' we are not with them' and she replied' I know'. A waiter appeared and banged down plates of egg and potato, some would call that a tortilla.I called the waitress over and asked why we had not seen menus and she said something about ' a decision by the management'.She told us we would also get roast beef and fried potatoes, and to finish a dessert. So we moaned to each other and ate up.Then a French couple appeared, the waitresses' attitude to them was completely different. While she had been off-hand with us she was all laughter and chatting to them. Then she gave them menus! And a wine list( we had not been offered anything to drink). I called her over and asked what was going on, and it became clear that she thought we were on the cancelled flight, although I had pointed out that ' we are not with them'. So the penny dropped with the waitress, and she was very apologetic and even offered us a free cup of tea/coffee.But the damage was done, we had a rotten dinner, we did not finish it but walked out at that point. And so to an early bed, to be woken during the night by the 'empties' being thrown into a dumpster. There was no breakfast in the morning, as we left early. Surely this type of hotel should cater for guests having to catch early flights? As you can gather we would not stay there again. In fact our flight was also cancelled by the dust cloud and we found a charming hotel in Santa Pola, on the beach, and not much further from the airport. The cost was similar.
