We enjoyed our stay at La Dimora, but it was the most expensive place we stayed in two months of travel and I'm not sure it was worth it. The room was decorated well, with a comfortable bed and excellent linens, but was rather small. The bathroom was beautiful and luxurious. The pool area looked nice, but unfortunately we weren't able to use it because of the weather. The staff was not very friendly and there was a rather arrogant feel to the whole experience. We had to pass the reception desk every time we entered or exited our room and we were always the ones saying "Bonjour" or "Bonsoir" to them. They never initiated it. To me, that is a common courtesy for an upscale hotel to show that you acknowledge and appreciate your guests. I was also surprised that breakfast was not included, for the price they were charging for the rooms, and that the breakfast was extremely expensive. So we drove into Saint Florent every morning for a breakfast that cost about 1/4 of what they charged. We enjoyed the area, but it is much closer to Saint Florent than Bastia. Be forewarned that the drive to Bastia is through the mountains, so it is somewhat challenging unless you like curves and mountain passes. We did find a fabulous restaurant in the little hill town of Oletta, that I would highly recommend. It was called Auberge A Magina. The views are spectacular, the decor is beautiful and the food was very gourmet and out of this world, at affordable prices. The staff spoke English very well, which was an added bonus.
