“Lovely hotel but pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2011

We enjoyed our stay at La Dimora, but it was the most expensive place we stayed in two months of travel and I'm not sure it was worth it. The room was decorated well, with a comfortable bed and excellent linens, but was rather small. The bathroom was beautiful and luxurious. The pool area looked nice, but unfortunately we weren't able to use it because of the weather. The staff was not very friendly and there was a rather arrogant feel to the whole experience. We had to pass the reception desk every time we entered or exited our room and we were always the ones saying "Bonjour" or "Bonsoir" to them. They never initiated it. To me, that is a common courtesy for an upscale hotel to show that you acknowledge and appreciate your guests. I was also surprised that breakfast was not included, for the price they were charging for the rooms, and that the breakfast was extremely expensive. So we drove into Saint Florent every morning for a breakfast that cost about 1/4 of what they charged. We enjoyed the area, but it is much closer to Saint Florent than Bastia. Be forewarned that the drive to Bastia is through the mountains, so it is somewhat challenging unless you like curves and mountain passes. We did find a fabulous restaurant in the little hill town of Oletta, that I would highly recommend. It was called Auberge A Magina. The views are spectacular, the decor is beautiful and the food was very gourmet and out of this world, at affordable prices. The staff spoke English very well, which was an added bonus.

“outstanding service, very nice, off usual routes”

very kind welcome and suggestions on surroundings, the place has been decorated with taste with an eye at cost (but that's ok)... some details to be a 5/5 are missing but it is a must for the area and management is present and attentive

Visit the nearby Oletta and Saint Florent, and the Saleccia beach

“Excellent hotel and area”

If you stay in Oletta, you should go to La Dimora. It's very clean and the staff is very friendly. the rooms are very clean. The pool is very nice and the view is beautiful. But if you go to eat, stay at the hotel, eat there because the food in Saint Florent is not really good, and don't eat ice cream at ALL!! The hotel was also nice because I have 2 pets, and they were accepted. Breakfast was croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes, fruits, and bread and jam.
I recommend this hotel very much.

“Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

You need a car to stay here as there is no restaurant and it’s a few miles outside St Florent, which reminds me of a slightly lower key St Tropez (has lots of bars, restos, pizza places etc).

A gorgeous, small, boutique hotel, extremely comfortable, recently renovated from an old house with the sort of style, care and attention which makes you want to stay there forever and makes you wish it was your private home. Large comfortable beds, lovely furniture, beautiful tiles, stonework and fabrics.

Though there are houses around it, the property seems extremely private, because the gardens have been cleverly designed. A lovely swimming pool and bar serves salad lunches and early evening drinks. Great buffet breakfast with lots of choice.

Drive the couple of miles up to Oletta and sit on the terrace with a drink at the bar/pizza place, watching the sun go down over the spectacular mountains and the sea..... heaven.

“Small, luxury hotel where guests are treated as individuals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2009

This is a hotel to recommend if you like to travel in luxurry and small hotels where the hotel management pays attention to their guests.

This hotel pays also special attention to small details: f.e. lavender on our bed, another collored towel to go to the swimming pool.

The breakfast buffet was very complete.

Spacious rooms, spacious bathroom (negative : there is no shower (only bath thub)).

Another negative point can be that the bar is only open till 22.00 hrs. We would liked to have a drink at the bar after our dinner, which you have to take in a near city as St Florent or other near villages.
