Staying at the Hotel Logge del Perugino Park Hotel was a poor experience for us. Firstly, by SatNAV GPS it’s hard to find, and using the street address you may be directed to pass through the car-free pedestrian zone. This will be very unpopular with local police. Your first challenge is to find the alternative and circuitous route to the hotel. The hotel’s own map helps you not a bit with this.
We finally found an externally attractive building, set in a quiet park, close to town. All looked good as we drove up the drive.
It’s a 4-star hotel, but when we arrived, no help was offered with our luggage. Our superior double room was one of two located in an out-building with a little garden. Inside it had a tiled floor and beams supporting the roof tiles directly, with no plaster, giving a slightly barn-like feel to it.
The room was adequate, but not great, with a partitioned bathroom containing shower and toilet. It had paper-thin walls between us and the adjoining accommodation. The sound-effects of our neighbour in his bathroom and shower echoed from the beams of the communal ceiling cum roof at 7am.
We suffered some unseasonably cold and rainy weather during our early September stay, and two important indoor hotel features weren’t working. The Wireless Internet and Satellite TV were both out to lunch, due to the fact I was told, “we no pay telecom bill”.
The outdoor pool might have been good in warmer weather, but it’s a bit of a desolate affair, with a few items of wrought iron furniture strewn around some water. My first reaction to it, albeit at dusk, was to wonder whether it was a swimming pool or an extensive fish-pond.
Breakfast was a minimal buffet of mainly pre-packaged croissants and crisp-breads with little fresh produce. I’ve had plenty better in 2-star hotels.
The young staff were friendly enough, but ineffective, and the place had a slightly Fawlty Towers feel to it, and appropriately enough the in-house restaurant was called the Sybil (actually Le Sibille).
Dinner at Le Sibille was very disappointing. Lamb chops over char-grilled, duck breast like shoe-leather, and wine served pre-opened and without a tasting offered.
To sum up, this hotel feels neglected, run down, and like the staff don’t give a stuff for the clients. It certainly doesn’t feel like 4 star accommodation.
We wished we’d stayed at the Vanucci hotel nearby, with its elegant and friendly lobby and stylish Zafferano restaurant. We had a top quality meal for two there, with a bottle of Orvieto Classico for 79 Euros.

Our waitresses are expected to be friendly and polite, and our customers have often made nice comments about them which are noted in our guest book.
Thank you for your comments about our Italian buffet breakfast. We will make sure to improve its quality and the variety of food offered to meet the needs of travelers from other parts of the world.
