“Like a dream”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2010 via mobile

I stayed at baan lam sai for the most enjoyable week so far in Thailand the views of sunsets are unreal, the staff are all so friendly it felt like I was staying with family. The chef wipped up incredible dishes big portions and so delicious. I was training with the muay Thai instructor for the whole weened and leaded so much improved my skills and I felt he really cared about my progress. I would deffinatly recommend staying here if you have children too as the whole island is so family friendly and I felt so safe here. This is a chillout haven with muay Thai on the side anyone who doesn't leave the island wishing they could stay longer is nuts!! Lisa and her family and other kind wonderful staff are what make this place even more fun. Other activities can also be arranged by them... This is Thailand your wishes can come true I highly recommend this hotel and gym to chill soak up the wonders and your garenteed to leave loving muay Thai!!! Brilliant place!!!

“Cultural Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 March 2010

If you are looking for white sandy beach, Jet skis, buffet breakfast...this is not the place, this place is a real cultural experience, the rooms are clean, pool is fantastic, food is real Thai and delicious, and above all... the people who run this place are real Gems, we stayed here, family with a 10year old, and loved it, Lu the manager will make you feel at home, Lisa and her husband are very friendly, Harry is a Gentlemen, and the cook ...Chan, is a great chef, if you are looking for a simple place very nice people, this is a hidden secret in the middle of a fishing village.

I will go back here anytime, with my family and friends.

“Don't go!!!”

There was no in-room safe, no fan, TV with no satellite. There’s a really big different from their hotel website. The hotel had many problems of the management. There were 3 separated managements. Muay Thai Boxing managed by a western couple. The swimming pool and the accommodation managed by Lu and her husband. The restaurant managed by Thai people. The hotel had no reception or receptionist and staff. Lu and her husband live in the ground floor of the hotel building. We had to knock their door when needed help every time. One time they were going out and we waited for an hour. This is so inconvenient. On Muay Thai Boxing night, everyone can enter to the hotel if paying 200 bahts. There were nearly 100 people in the hotel area. The children were playing in the swimming pool. The hotel was in disorder. The noisy crowd was until 2am. One time, we cannot open the room door with the key. Lu’s husband climbed to my room from the balcony and opened the door. He urged that we couldn’t lock the door when we go out. That means everyone can enter to my room!!!! The electricity shut down 2 times on my 9 days stayed. They cleaned up our room on the forth, the sixth and the eighth day only. They were not doing it everyday as other hotel even we requested many times.

“HOME FROM HOME”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2010

This hotel was a lucky find, literally of a advert on a map that we picked up last year. The hotel is run (very well) by Dave, Lou, with support from Harry, Lisa & Lisa's husband who is the Mui thai boxing trainer (sure that,s spelt wrong!!) We had the family room which is 2 double bedrooms with aircon a big bathroom with shower, a large lounge with fridge & telly & a huge balcony over looking the pool & beach. Sunsets on the balcony where fantastic The resuturant head chef Joy is brill she speaks good English and makes the best tom yam soup ever, and we have tried a few!! I would recommend hiring a scooter to travel around to the many beaches, the hotel beach is not for swimming, but 5 min ride will take you to beautiful beaches. I actually had a few private lessons of thai boxing just really for fitness, wow, best ever would defo recommend . This hotel was our best find ever, the food, atmosphere, helpfullness was 100%

“Cultural experiences at Lam Sai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 April 2009

My family arrived in Koh Yao at the pier on April 16. We had no reservations, but told the taxi driver we had a booking. We arrived at the Lam Sai Village Hotel and Lisa (English) made us feel welcome. She showed us a room with one large bed and a fan because we were traveling with two small children her husband, Hlukhin carried in a mattress at no charge. The room was 800bht per night. It was very clean. We didn't bother with a shower so I can't comment. The hotel has a clean pool that the children splashed in most of the day. The beach is non-swimmable because when the tide goes out it is solid mud, but the views are very nice. There is a restaurant where you can get good food, but be prepared for confusion as English is a work in progress. Lisa was helpful as she organized a friend, Bang Phat to take us out for the day in his long tail to the Hong Islands for 2500 bht including lunch. Hiring him was one of the best things we did during our entire stay. Outside of Lam Sai is a cultural trip. Local villagers pick mangos, and small children chase chickens. The area has some intense poverty, which was good for my children to see. There is a fantastic restaurant--the good view--which can't be missed. We walked from our hotel with a 4 year old... Lam Sai is big in Thai kickboxing--they have their own training center. Lisa's husband, Hlukhin trains along with a few other people. Hlukhin was kind enough to give my 7 year old daughter a go in the ring. An experience she still talks about. Our kids were welcomed with open arms and after 2 nights/3 days we felt like family. This is not a luxury resort, but they also don't enforce check in/check out and are very flexible. If you are looking for a Thai cultural experience away from the hustle of Phuket--don't miss this place...
