“A la campagne near Paris”

Villennes, a pittoresque and quite village near Paris (just 25 minutes away by train). Everyday you have the choice to search for the mondain and great Paris or to look out for the calmness of 'la campagne'. Dormouse, beautifully decorated and designed, nice, spacious and welcoming rooms. Lisa is a great cook and helpfull. We were there in winter, but I imagine that it must be great to sit in summer with a view to the Seine valley and all the flowers in the garden. Ideal place for when you are by car (parking), but because the train station is near (20 minutes walk) you can move easily when you don't have a car.

“Romantic Weekend at Dormouse House”

We stayed at Dormouse House, Villenes sur Seine, France early November. It is situated just 20 minutes by train to Paris, but feels as if it is in the countryside far away from the city! It has the most beautiful, impressionistic views and coloring. Lisa Quinn, the giving and lively hostess, will make sure you have all you need. We especially enjoyed the beauty of her home, the surrounding home gardens, the home cooked meals, the fireplace in the salon, thick towels, lots of pillows, and great cooking lessons!

“Don't do it!! Stay else where”

We just returned from a five night stay. What a disappointment. Not at all a France five star B&B experience. The whole house is very dirty. The sheets were dirty. The dishes were dirty. When I saw the kitchen I couldn't eat there. For breakfast we were served old toast and reheated coffee. After finishing my coffee the first morning I looked in the cup and saw old food stuck to the bottom of the cup. We thought we would be served croissants and french pastries. The dog pooed and peed on the floor the first night there. This was our first experience with a B&B...and our last.

we were very distressed to read this lone bad review by a family from New Jersey, USA (not from Ireland as stated.) This was their first stay ever in a b&b. They were offered a selection of items for breakfast, like all of our guests, and of course we would never dream of serving 'stale bread' (it wouldn't have time to get stale here anyway!)
We think perhaps next time they would be happier in a budget chain motel where there are standardized rooms and they would know exactly what to expect and where relations would be impersonal.
Because their review was so VERY at odds with all the others we've ever gotten, our guests have all said they just discounted it. But we pride ourselves on our warm hospitality, and the friendships we often develop with our guests, so this was very hurtful to us. Most importantly, the guests never said anything was amiss whilst here. We cannot possibly address a concern if we don't know of it and wonder if this family has any idea how these kinds of comments can hurt owners who share their own home and take great joy in making others happy...which is why do it!

“Lovely B&B in Paris”

I just returned from a weekend in Paris and stayed at the lovely Dormouse House B&B. Lisa made a special effort to help me (I’m a single woman traveling solo) figure out places to go and how to get there feeling safe the whole time. Dormhouse is 30 min train ride from Paris in a safe, quiet suburb. Her home is lovely and I found the blue room to be extra-ordinarily comfortable. She also was very understanding in a difficult circumstance.

“Like a Country Inn”

We stayed at Lisa's for only 2 nights in early Oct. and found the accomodations (blue room)to be quite cozy. Lisa will do everything to make your stay a memorable one....she's a pretty good cook, too! Paris is about half an hour away by train(and trains are a very comfortable ride). If you have several days or a week to explore Paris, then the Dormouse House is a great refuge from the hustle & bustle of Paris....so peaceful and quiet. And Vilennes-sur-Seine seems like a nice place to explore, too!
