If you would like an evening break from the bustle of Paris , I would recommend Dormouse House, in a village just 23 minutes by train from the center. Lisa picked us up at the station with her two little dogs she also has two cats. We had adjoining, comfortable rooms with a spacious bathroom and toilet in-between. The house is full of antique objects and surrounded by a lovely garden. Lisa was kind enough to arrange a veterinary appointment for my guide dog to complete our documents for re-entry into Britain . She speaks English natively and her French is excellent. Through her, our veterinary bill was nominal. Lisa makes you feel at home and is a delight for those who appreciate inclusion.

While I did not come from abroad -- I live in Brittany -- I enjoyed the stay. Dormouse House is a very convenient place if you are looking for a quiet and elegant home near Paris. Even better 1) if you have a car 2) if you like dogs and cats.

We spent Christmas at Dormouse House and it will always be one of our most memorable. Lisa and Jack were very welcoming and made us feel that their house was ours.

Lisa had stockings for us on Christmas morning! We made some arrangements in advance and I let Lisa know some things my daughter and husband like and though I paid for these items in advance, Lisa added many treats on her own so that we had many surprises on Christmas morning. Lisa made grand efforts to find just the right items for us - she wanted the day to be memorable and it most certainly was.

Lisa is an excellent cook and we were fortunate to have several meals at the house. Of course Christmas dinner was the best and Lisa's stuffing will be our standard of comparison for all stuffing from now on! Also, Lisa made a special Christmas cake that was so beautiful, we took a picture of it! I am afraid I will not spell the french name correctly so I will describe it as a Christmas Yule Log cake - decorated like a snowy scene in nature and it tasted every bit as good as it looked. This cake was a work of art!

Jack was a delight - such a gentleman and I loved listening to his sweet Scottish accent! He had wonderful stories to tell and I could have listened for hours.

Our two ajoining rooms were on the upper level of the house. We had a private bathroom as part of the suite and it was very comfortable with big soft towels that were warm from the heated rack where they hung - now I want warm towels at home too! Our two rooms were decorated beautifully as was the rest of the house.

It is a very enjoyable walk to the train station - about 25 minutes and even in the cold it was pleasant. From the very quaint little station in Villenes it was a quick and easy trip into Paris. After walking through the city all day, Dormouse House was warm, welcoming and restful.

We stayed at Dormouse house for the first week of our honeymoon trip around Europe. It was a beautiful house with a picturesque garden and the couple who owned it (Lisa and Jack) were delightful. They were happy to help us with anything. Nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel really relaxed and welcome. They have two friendly dogs and a cat and chickens in the garden, which gave the place a nice atmosphere.

We were travelling into Paris everyday by train and weren't returning till late in the evening but they assured us that it was fine and that we should feel at home and not worry about time. They even encouraged us to use the Jacuzzi as much as we wanted - and we did! It was lovely.

We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone.
