Villennes-sur-seine is a quaint town outside of Paris.Dormouse House is advertised as a 20 min walk from the train staion. You must be in fine shape to make it up the steep hill in 20 min. to the house and if it is raining and cold it is really bad. Our biggest problem with our trip was upon arrival. In Paris we called ahead to let Lisa know that we would be arriving and asked if she could pick us up. She was in total shock. She had no record of us and had double booked the three rooms our family had contracted for 3 days. Fortunately we had brought all the e-mails from her confirming our arrival and acknowledging the recipt of our deposit check. She graciously offered to set up accomodations for us in her best room which turned out to be an attic. 2 of our 3 children slept on futons on the floor, our 3rd had a bed. My husband and I shared a small double. we all shared one bathroom. In spite of the less than agreed upon accomadations she tried to charge us almost the full rate (which we did not agree to). Be careful of the "homecooked" meal she offers. It is highly overpriced, questionablely homemade, very smal portions.Breakfast is lovely. Jack is a pleasure to talk to. The view from the valley is beautiful. Just be careful to carry all documentation of your agrred upon travel arrangements perhaps call a few days ahead and be in good shape to walk up and down that hill to the train station.
