“Decent Hotel but poor breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

This hotel appears to be a travellers hotel for salemen or motorists on their way to the ferry to the UK. It is on the outskirts of Arras but the access is easy to drive downtown. It is also about a 15 minute drive to Vimy, the Canadian WW1 War Memorial. Parking is free on the hotel grounds. It is next to the highway and can be noisy depending on the location of your room. Breakfast for 9.50 Euros is a rip-off. Tasteless coffee, soggy crossant and 2 choices of sugary cereal as well as the usual meats and buns. If you arrive late for breakfast you will need to ask for ham or cheese as the staff do not quickly refill the buffet service.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the highway.

“Great place, but hard to find.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

Clean and comfortable rooms with tea/coffee making facilities. Although close to a main road, we didn't hear the traffic. When booking, ask for directions - our sat-nav didn't recognise the address given. We toured some interesting local areas and asked several people for directions before eventually finding it. The restaurant menus had been translated into English, but were still not easy to interpret. Our choice was limited by my sparse knowledge of the language, but what we ate was good. It seemed understaffed, but the few who were on duty worked really hard to serve everyone. The main colour of the decor was a vivid pink, but we soon became accustomed to it. If you can locate it, I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

“Do not stay here on a Sunday”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2011

This is a budget hotel, as you would expect from the price that you pay for the rooms.

It is clean, comfortable and very convenient for the main route to and from Calais.

We chose this hotel as our last stop on our 10 day holiday, where we had been travelling around europe and we wanted to stay near to Calais as we had an early ferry booked the next day. We knew that we would be travelling around 500 miles that day and so wanted to ensure that when we arrived we would be able to eat and drink at our hotel. Everything looked great on the website and had just what we wanted, so we booked.

Our hotel booking was on a Sunday.

However on arrival we discovered that the hotel restaurant was closed on a Sunday, and as the hotel was in a commercial area, were told that we would have to travel into town to find somewhere to eat - which we did.

On returning to the hotel in the evening we enjoyed a few drinks in the evening sun. Again to our amazement the hotel bar closed at 19:30 - so an early night had to be had by all.

To add insult to injury the night receptionist made themselves something to eat in the kitchen and then ate it in the restaurant area - in full view of us!!

I would recommend that you avoid this hotel and book somewhere in the town of Arras instead. We certainly will not be staying here again.

Room Tip: Looks good but does not deliver

“We would use La Belle Etoile again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

Location: on the fringe of an industrial site which is not as bad as it sounds there was some early morning noise but we sleep with windows open - if they were closed the problem would have been minimised or not noticeable
Access with car: Very good - easy access to Arras and also to the main roads for other areas. Plenty of parking
Cleanliness: very good.
Food: Breakfast pricy for what was available
Dinner Menu: Limited but quite good. I did have to complain about a steak I had - it had been wrongly described in the menu so they gave us free wine and altered the menu to correct the description Immediately - can't ask any more. Restaurant small but very comfortable.
Staff were fine

“A remarkably good place for a stopover!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

Having driven 665 miles from the Cote d'Azur we were just looking for a clean room and a comfortable bed for the night and that is exactly what we got. The room was spotless and the bathroom sparkling, with an excellent shower. The only downside was that after driving for over 10 hours it took us ages to find in the dark; it is situated in a poorly sign-posted industrial estate! But it is extremely convenient for the motorways and is certainly miles better than a Premiere Classe, Etap etc. We paid 50 Euros for a Friday night double room and would have no hesitation in staying there again.
