“Best hotel in Genting!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

There are more than 5 to 6 hotels in the Genting Highlands, but Maxims is the best of them all.
The reception staff was quick in checking us in and the rooms were very nicely furnished with modern decor and the bathroom was very spacious ,
I suggest that you take. Room with a view.
We couldn't get one ad they were running full and anyways when we stayed it was so cloudy we could hardly see anything outside.
The hotel is connected very well to the Outdoor as well as the indoor theme parks,
We just had to take a few escalators down and we were there in the theme park and the Plaza.
My 2 year old daughter had a very good time,
The breakfast was very elaborate with so many different cuisines for all kind of travellers.

Overall a wonderful experience !

Room Tip: Take a room on the higher floor to get a good view.

“Genting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

I stayed at the Maxims Genting from 3 January to 5 January 2012 and my entire stay was was very pleasurable. The hotel is located at the highest point of Genting and commands a panaromic view of the hill. The service, right from the check in to check out is superb. The rooms are big and well furnished and the buffet breakfast is the most extensive I have had anywhere in the world. Genting is a family holiday location and Maxim Genting is the star of this location. I recommend this hotel highly.
One word of caution for firsttime travelers to Genting. If you are traveling from Kuala Lumpur beware that the excellent 6 lane highway takes only 1 hour to cover the distance butthe difference in temperature, particularly if you arrive in the evening, is almost 16 to 18 degrees celsius, Please keep yourself adfequately covered in woolies or else face the possibility of catching a bad chill, like I did. Genting is literally up in the clouds and covered in swirling mist early in the morning and in the evening.

“Very impressed with the suite rooms and the service efficiency of hotel staff”

Just had a free2 night suite stay given to me by Genting with complimentary limo airport pickup service.I was most impressed with the layout and toiletries of the suite room.don't know much about the standard rooms though.the staff that I interacted with were always helpful.the location is fantastic because you are close to all the good restaurants, amusement rides, casino and shops within Genting.I was pleasantly surprised after having stayed at the terrible Highlands Hotel twice before,so this was refreshing.I didn't win money, so the stay being complimentary was welcoming.

“Cosy hotel but staffs services need to upgrade”

How to go?
You can take the Genting taxi (RM25 per pax, min 4 to go) at KL Sentral to the Hotel.

Room:
Maxims Genting seems to be renovated as it looks very new to me. I stayed at the Premier Room. I got a view that overlooking at the roof top of another building. If on a clearer day, you get to see the Pagoda and using a binoculars you will get to see KL tower and twin towers. The room size is quite ok. The bathroom is of good size too. The amenities in the room are pretty standard. Mini fridge, large Lcd TV. The bed is from Simmons and it is quite comfortable. The pillows are very good too. Complementary bottle waters are there with complementary newspaper. There is also complementary fruits. The pear is very sweet! However, there is no free wifi in the room.

Bathroom:
The bathroom is quite ok. It is of a very good size. The bathtub is on right hand side and the toilet bowl and bathing cubicle is on the left hand side. It has a nice rain forest shower and two basins for you and your partner. The bathroom amenities are packed nicely in a pouch. The bathing amenities are from Aigner. The towels are of good size.

Services:
When I arrive at the entrance lobby, nobody seems to care to help with my baggage. The staffs at the counter speaks pretty good English and friendly. The check in is pretty easy. I was asked to take a seat the couch and was given a hot welcome Chinese tea which is a nice touch due to the cold weather. Then the staffs bring the necessary documents for me to sign upon check in. Check out is equally quick at the same place. I encounter a minor problem in the room and call to the reception. It is solved quite fast. However, many staffs at the door are more interested in chatting among themselves. The staffs over the breakfast area are also stingy on the smiles. Also when ask the staffs on where to take bus to travel to KL, they dun seems to provide any useful information and keep asking us to go First World Hotel and find out. I think the staffs need to be equipped with such knowledge.

Breakfast
Breakfast selection is quite ok but is more towards Asian fares.

Hotel:
The location of the hotel is quite ok. A short walk brings you to the mini mart. Above the lobby is the casino, many restaurants within 2 mins walk and another 2 level up brings you to the theater. However, it is a slightly longer walk to the main shopping area, theme park ride, cinema and fast food etc..

Verdict:
Staffs at the counter seems to be more helpful and attentive. Others appear to be less interested. Location is ok since everywhere is connected with a walkway. My only gripe is that the staffs lack of certain knowledge to help the guests. However, overall this hotel looks new, rather cosy and spacious.

“Could be better.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

I stayed at Maxims Genting after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor. It took more than 2 hours by taxi from KLIA to reach the Genting Highlands resort. The check-in process was quick and staff were pleasant and helpful. We were given a corner suite which was larger than the other rooms. The bathroom had a foul sewage smell for the duration of my stay, the safe and telephones in my room did not work.

My biggest disappointment with Maxims, and with the Genting Highlands complex itself was the hygiene and cleanliness. There is dirt, dust and grime everywhere you look. The resort itself is very old and tacky, the food quality in the food courts are extremely poor, and the theme parks are old and dangerous. The casino has worn out tables and chips, and everything seems to be falling apart. Having just arrived in Genting from Singapore, and having visited Resorts World Singapore establishment, it really is beyond comparison. Genting is really just a budget traveller destination so don't set your standards too high if you plan to visit.
