“We loved the authenticity, pigs and location of the Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2010

Ok, really it has been 1 and 1/2 years since we have been to Rigney's and the location, pigs, environment, bacon, and lemon pancakes and the dog are still a common topic. We loved Hurling with hosts, running on the country roads, enjoying the pigs and agriculture, the proximity to Adare (castle and pubs). We stayed at Rigney's with our 2 sons age 14 and 10. It was perfect! Thank you and sorry we did not write sooner. As you can see- you are still in our thoughts with GREAT memories.

“Perfect Irish Countryside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2010

This wonderful country B&B was everything I hoped it would be. The minute my husband and I arrived we were greeted with the famed Irish hospitality, as well as warm, homecooked scones and tea. Caroline and her family were gracious and we had a great time visiting, wandering around the farm, and enjoying the animals. Not only was our room large and comfortable, but the food that Caroline prepared for our breakfast was fresh and delicious. We stayed for two nights, but could have easily planned for longer as they made us feel so at home. If you are wanting a true feel of the Irish countryside living, I would recommend this venue.

“Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2010

We have stayed in a variety of b & bs around Ireland of varying quality (in one that comes to mind in Claemorris, Co Mayo, we got a smell of frying when we arrived at 9 pm...I asked the landlady was she having a late supper and she replied: oh no, I always do the cooking for the breakfasts the night before...urgghh).

It was an absolute pleasure therefore to arrive at Rigneys and meet two people running a guesthouse to the absolute high water mark of good quality. The food here is superb, from the pot of tea, fresh sones and homemade jam on arrival (you wouldn't get nicer in a five star hotel) to the really top-class breakfast of hand-reared and home-cured pork products and free-range freshly-laid eggs

The hosts Joe and Caroline are warm and welcoming and totally committed to their beautiful rare breed farm animals, which are lovingly cared for. Breakfast took a little time as we had to wait for the brown scones to come out of the oven....bliss. This is slow food at its best. Go and enjoy it and get a peek into working farm life as you do.

“Excellent b&b”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2010

This is how a b&b should be! Very pleasant atmosphere and the hosts that had time to talk with us, to show us their farm and animals and to chat during the breakfast. Excellent food, the best irish breakfast we had in Ireland! We were only disappointed not to have the possibility to buy some bacon and sausages, but having to stay in other b&b withoud a fridge, it wasn't possible. We felt like we were family's personal guests, as we were at home. Unfortunately we could stay only one night, but surely if we come next time to Ireland we will book more nights as we relaxed enormously.

“Total Get Away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2009

After getting the cheapest of cheap flights from London Stansted to Shannon my fiancée and I were looking for a real retreat to get away from the strains of organising our wedding and moving house and we came away from Rigney’s Farmhouse completely relaxed and at ease.
We are animal lovers so to spend time with the dogs, feed the pigs, observe the geese, ducks and chickens and pet the horses was an absolute treat for us city dwellers. Carline and Joe were very hospitable sharing their home with us and being ever helpful and thoughtful where possible. My fiancée especially loved collecting her own free range eggs from up in the barn and then eating them with fresh homemade bread 10 minutes later!
Our room (Oak room) was very comfortable and we were rewarded after a long day of sightseeing with a very comfortable nights sleep in the 4 poster bed. The B&B is designed so you can be involved in the farm as much or as little as you like, but its location was ideal for us. 20-30 minutes from Limerick, and within easy reach of the Cliffs of Moher, Curraghchase Forest Park, Bunratty Castle, Foynes and Lough Derg (Killaloe and Ballina).
We had a lovely time and would thoroughly recommend a stay at Rigney’s Farm, just remember to get a hire car and without doubt a sat nav.
