As Editor of the Conde Nast Traveller (UK) supplement on India in 2009 I travelled extensively, often with my energetic young children. Abbotsford was with out a doubt one of my favourite places to stay. Travelling with my two children, two of their friends and their lone mother we were thrilled to feel relaxed and at home in this stunning but comfortable family home. Endless trips to meadows with snow peaked views, boating on the lake, delicious dinners both in and out - we were spoilt for choice. We all slept so well in stately rooms with massive beds with thick duvets. The staff were brilliant. and their children quickly made firm friends with our crew to form a cricket team - the pitch itself is part of the Abotsford garden as we settled into tea and cakes and a view to die for. Perfect for families, bird watchers and those who want to experience the real India. One problem - the charming Prasada's won't part with their home cooked recipies - a secret for generations, a trip back is the only way we can experience the best lamb we've ever tasted.
