Alka hotel is one of the best located hotel in nanital.....View is amazing as it just oppisite to nanilake....but the services provided as compared to rates are not that much good....food is just ok and very expensive...rooms are ok but very very expensive.....staff is just not co-oprative at all. the hotel is only good at location point of view...it totally depends that what exactly you are looking for.......

The location of the hotel is the best. The early morning view of the lake and the Sun rays falling on the hill are mesmerising. But the rooms are very poorly lit; food is just 'ok'. And the tariff is very high compared to the facilities. So I will suggest the traveller, decide what you are looking for and then decide to stay in this hotel.

Location wise, Alka hotel is bang opposite the Naini Lake in Nainital. But the rooms are way too expensive when compared to the facilities and the room size. On my way to Delhi from Kausani, I stopped over at Nainital for 2 nights with my wife in early January 2011. I had reserved a Economy room over the internet based on the photo of the economy room in the hotel's site. But on entering the room, we were utterly disappointed with he room size and the bathroom. The room was very small when compared to the price being paid. I could hardly move around in the bathroom. The room was clean but the washroom was very very unclean. We had to request the hotel authorities to clean the bathroom once again.

Since it was the month of January, a typical chilly wind was blowing. There was a gap under the main door of our room and it was nullifying the effect of the heater (the heater mind you only operates after 4 pm till early morning) which was supposed to keep the room warm. We requested the authorities to do something but there was no help. So we used a piece of clothe to stop the leaking under the door.

Location wise its very aptly situated next to the lake and on the main road. But if you want to walk to a restaurant or go to the main shopping area - it is around a 20 mins walk. It is some hwere in between the taxi stand and the shopping area.

The food at the hotel is very expensive.

I will not be able to comment on the other rooms.

I found hotel alka as a best hotel to stay in Nanital. Reason beening it is in front of Nani lake you can view lake Nani even from any room of this hotel. You can see sun rise and sun set. This hotel is situated at mall road so you can visit mall road any time. Location of this hotel is best along with good rooms.
