Beitostolen is a small place, so "everything" is within walking distance of this hotel. The lobby gives a good first impression with a mix of classic Norwegian furniture and sleek Scandinavian design. There is a bar on the ground floor next to the reception area, and also a restaurant serving Norwegian cuisine.
In the basement there are various leisure facilities including a play room with a pool table, and a spa/gym area with a good sized pool and a decent selection of gym equipment.
The breakfast is served in the restaurant on the ground floor, and has a standard selection of Norwegian bread, cheese, ham, different kinds of spread and cereals, juice and milk.
My only concern about this hotel, is that it could benefit from a refurbishment. The corridors and rooms are clean but has a somewhat dated look. Our bathroom was a standard shower-over-bath, and was clean. The bed linen were clean, but the mattress covers on our bed was stained. It looked like they'd been exposed to a lot of liquid and also faded by exposure to sunlight (I'm just guessing here..). As they weren't covered by the bed sheets it was very easy for everyone to see, and it didn't leave a good impression.
Also, one of our rooms had a moldy smell to it.
On a positive note, when we checked out, we politely mentioned all of this to the reception staff, and as a gesture of goodwill they took one night for one room off our bill. Thank you very much!
I would stay at this hotel again if I'm going back to Beitostolen. The location is good for hiking trips in the Jotunheimen area. But for the price they charge per night (we paid around 1400 Norwegian Kroner), I would appreciate a slightly more modern decoration of the rooms. All in all though, the stay was pleasant enough.
