“Swimming in the mountains”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

From the outside it looks like a business hotel, inside it's more a (winter) sport hotel. The building need some maintainance here and there. The receptionist shakes hands whenm you come in, formal in a pleasant way. Big plus for the real big swimming pool (25 m) and fitness facilities.
Nice view over the Jotunheimen mountains, just a kilometer to the north the landscape becomes sensational. Dinner and breakfast above (Norwegian) standards.

“Good location, but rooms are a bit dated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

Beitostolen is a small place, so "everything" is within walking distance of this hotel. The lobby gives a good first impression with a mix of classic Norwegian furniture and sleek Scandinavian design. There is a bar on the ground floor next to the reception area, and also a restaurant serving Norwegian cuisine.

In the basement there are various leisure facilities including a play room with a pool table, and a spa/gym area with a good sized pool and a decent selection of gym equipment.

The breakfast is served in the restaurant on the ground floor, and has a standard selection of Norwegian bread, cheese, ham, different kinds of spread and cereals, juice and milk.

My only concern about this hotel, is that it could benefit from a refurbishment. The corridors and rooms are clean but has a somewhat dated look. Our bathroom was a standard shower-over-bath, and was clean. The bed linen were clean, but the mattress covers on our bed was stained. It looked like they'd been exposed to a lot of liquid and also faded by exposure to sunlight (I'm just guessing here..). As they weren't covered by the bed sheets it was very easy for everyone to see, and it didn't leave a good impression.
Also, one of our rooms had a moldy smell to it.

On a positive note, when we checked out, we politely mentioned all of this to the reception staff, and as a gesture of goodwill they took one night for one room off our bill. Thank you very much!

I would stay at this hotel again if I'm going back to Beitostolen. The location is good for hiking trips in the Jotunheimen area. But for the price they charge per night (we paid around 1400 Norwegian Kroner), I would appreciate a slightly more modern decoration of the rooms. All in all though, the stay was pleasant enough.

“Everything within walkng range!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

A very nice hotel. Rooms a litle old, but still very nice. Very carming lobby and rooms in general. Nice for kids, wit a lot of avtivities. Very very friendly staff. Breakfast good, missing the famous norwegian wafles though. Evening buffet could be a litle more variated. Again very friendly staff. Swimmingpool very nice and large... Could use a warm spa though.
We stayd for 3 nights, a lot of activities in the town of beitostølen. We will be back during winter time.

“Nice and comfy after hiking in the mountains”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

We stayed here one night after hiking in the mountains for some days and camping in a tent, so it was quite nice just to be indoors again.
The hotel facilities is very good, with a large pool, sauna, pool table etc. But the rooms and hotel in general is a bit worn down. The breakfast is average. Nice though that they accepted dogs for just a small additional fee.

And when you're at Beitostølen, I would highly recommend trying the car-track in the downhill slopes. You rent a small motor-less car, use the ski lift to the top and try to make it down the slopes. Great fun!
