“Beautiful location”

We stayed at the height of the season so it was very busy.

However, the grounds are huge and the hotel has 2 large pools and is right on the beach, so there was always room to swim and sunbathe.

Staff were pleasant and our room was lovely.

Only a 20 minute bus ride to Corfu town, and there were boat trips from the beach, so a handy base from which to explore.

“Made me fall in love with Greece”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I went to Greece for the first time in July 2011. Lovely Louis Corcyra hotel and wonderful Corfu got me the perfect first impression! The hotel is big and you will get you privacy if you want to. The food was really good, but we got a little bit tired of it after 2 weeks (But you know... Us Norwegians aren't that used to hot meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner so it was excepted).

The room was beautiful! We actually had to ask if we had gotten the right room, was it really for us? Nice couches and a bed you don't want to get up from in the morning. The hard-working crew at the hotel was always smiling to us, and took their time for a chat if possible. Really nice :)

Gouvia it self is a bit run down, but it absolutely has a greek soul. We found ourselves some really cozy and nice tavernas and bars (my tip is: Eat at aries and get your drinks at wild rose). I would absolutely recommend to go out some nights and not just stay at the hotel! Isn't that what vacations are for? Getting to know the locals is the most memorable thing from this trip. We saw a lot of tourist whom just stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks. Thats not my cup of tea...

There was two swimming pools. We liked "The lagoon" best, Bigger and better!

Thanks for two awesome weeks at Corcyra! This year we are going to Rhodos, but I think we'll be back any time soon! :)

Room Tip: Don't waste your money on sea view. You can see the ocean perfectly fine from the lovely dining...

Dear guest,

Thank you for spending two weeks last summer at the Louis Corcyra Beach and for sharing such a wonderful review with the online community. We are very happy that you much appreciated our friendly staff, our tasty food, our comfortable rooms and of course the spectacular view from our hotel.

Should your future endeavours bring you back to Greece in the future, as you mentioned, Louis Hotels would be delighted to welcome you back in any of our hotels in Rhodes, Mykonos, Crete or Zakynthos.

Wishing you all the very best,

“Great hotel for couples or families.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

There are lots of great things about the hotel. The view over the bay is lovely, I would recommend a sea view room. There are two pools at the hotel. The one nearest the sea tended to attract all the families and was where any events/games took place. The prettier pool near the hotel entrance was quieter and preferable for relaxing and was a good size.
There was lots of food available. Dinner was buffet style, but items never ran out, they continued to replenish even towards the end of dinner service. There was an excellent choice both for breakfast and dinner. Lunch was available by the lower pool and snacks by the other pool. Snacks were available all day.
The all inclusive bar really was all inclusive, cocktails and spirits (not just the local ones) were all included.
The grounds of the hotel were nice to have a wander round and it also has it own beach area (manmade), so you can swim in the sea too. Various watersports were available, although we didn't try any, so I can't make further comment.
Although the hotel was fairly busy, it never seemed too overcrowded.
The only really negative point was that I was sharing a room that was meant to have 2 separate sleeping area rooms with my parents (I was 35), but my area was just the lounge bit next to the blacony, with a sliding door, so I had to walk through their bit to get to the bathroom. The biggest problem though was that the air con unit was in my bit, so when the sliding door was shut, it became stifflingly hot in their bit and we had to have the door open in the end as it was too hot for them to sleep. I then couldn't sleep due to the loud snoring!! I would not recommend this kind of sleeping arrangement unless you are with people you are happy to share with as there is no privacy and the 2 separate sleeping areas description isn't really what it was.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view if your budget will allow and check the description carefully.

Dear guest,

We would like to thank you for visiting the Louis Corcyra Beach and for giving us your feedback on TripAdvisor.

Your comments are much appreciated and we are delighted that you enjoyed the views, the pools, the food, the drinks and the grounds.

Regarding the room, please be aware that they are built that way to suit families with young children...we would not recommend them for families with more than two adults because, as you experienced, it could get uncomfortable. In such cases it is always better to get two separate rooms.

All the best for the New Year and we hope to welcome you again soon.

Regards,

The Management

“Over rated”

My wife, 1 year old daughter and myself stayed here at the end of September.

The first thing I would say is that this hotel is not 4star. More realistically it's a 3star or 3star+ at best.

If you get this out of the way, then it's not too bad. My comments -

- they need to fix the wasp issue. It's terrible and can ruin your meals. We chose to eat indoors when we could and even resorted to taking lunch back to our room.

- depending on who was at the bar, depended on how nice a service you received. In the evening, when they were busy, there was a slight touch of rudeness from the bar staff. The cocktail menu was boring and in general the alcohol was tasteless.

- the buffet food was a bit samey after a day or two. Thankfully we were only there for one week.

- the beach isn't a beach but a man made strip of hard compact sand. It could do with several tonnes of new sand. It's not suitable for your kids that's for sure. We ended up hiring a car a few times to find a nice beach.

- the beach and pool area are not great for young babies because you can't sit down and let them play around you. It's far too dangerous for that.

- the pool was absolutely freezing. So much so, my daughter was crying. I would suggest that they invest and make one of their pools heated for the end and off-season.

- the rooms could do with a revamp. They are very worn and dated. I would actually rate the rooms and their state as 2 star.

Positives....the staff at the restaurants were pleasant and hard working. Corfu town is a nice place to visit.

Anyway, that's my main comments. In general, the place needs some money spent on it and that's the problem as Greece doesnt have any. It could be a nice place but it's definately not 4star so please don't have expectations above that of a 3star (by our standards).

Dear guest,

We would like to thank you for visiting the Louis Corcyra Beach and for writing a review of your experience. Though we do respect your opinion on certain matters, your last comment that 'the hotel needs some money and at the moment Greece doesn't have it' is not representative of our hotel, or our company. We run a business which is customer oriented and as a result, has renovated 8 hotels in 2011, with 4 more renovations to follow in 2012. Even at the Louis Corcyra, we have touched upon some rooms and hope to do a few more in the future. So at a time when the whole of Europe is in meltdown (not just Greece), as well as the US, our company has stood firm and is trying to renovate its hotels in the midst of all this. We are trying to offer more value to our paying guests and you only need to take one look at the comments of our hotels on Trip Advisor to see how well these changes have been received (Louis Phaethon Beach, Louis Zante Beach, Louis Ledra Beach, lti Louis Grand, Louis Kerkyra Golf).

To answer to a few of your comments, rest assured that we are aware of the wasp issue and the solution for next year will probably be to offer indoor lunch to those guests who want it. Regarding the bar, when staff are very busy their concentration may sometimes be perceived as rudeness, and this is probably what happened in your case. We assure you, however, that they are all customer focused as are we.

Thank you once again and best regards,

The Quality and Branding Manager
