This is only just an Hotel and is located about 3k to the west of Sete opposite Plage Corniche. There is on-site car parking and a lift .It is probably a little too far to walk in to Sete, especially in the evening.
We encountered our first problem on arrival; the Hotel had no record of our booking, despite it being made by a French-speaking colleague two weeks previously. The reception staff had only limited English [matched by our even more limited French!] and appeared to be unconcerned at our predicament at 5pm on a hot Saturday afternoon. Fortunately Nico, a waiter, resolved the situation for us and we were placed in Room 54 at the rear of the property. To say that it was cramped is an understatement with very little storage room for two small cases, loose tap handles in the bathroom and a poor shower. It is on the first floor of an unfinished building and the unpainted, steel handrails left rust marks on our clothing when we inadvertently brushed against them. During the night the air-conditioning unit leaked and flooded the table beneath it; we awoke to sodden bedding and a saturated GPS unit, handbag and wallet. The Wifi did not work away from the Reception area.
After more difficulty and indifference at reception the following morning, we were moved to Room 33, a ground floor, Sea View room at the front of the building; it was larger than room 54 and had a small terrace. Rooms on upper floors may have the promised view but ours was obscured by a large palm tree, shrub and a children’s Jumping Castle. WiFi did work here.
Two positives:
Nico, the waiter, assists at reception and was cheerful and helpful when not scurrying between tables.
Restaurant ‘La Table de Jean,’ attached to the Hotel is excellent with a well-priced menu and generous servings; the fish soup is extraordinarily good and comes in a bowl large enough to swim in! It was consistently busy on the three nights we stayed there. Breakfast is also served here and the service in the mornings was very slow with only one waitress on duty.
An excellent, small restaurant, “Le Sud,” is located amongst a group of restaurants and shops at Les Quilles, about 200 meters west of La Conga; it is well worth the five minute walk to enjoy a massive bowl of Moules et Frites in a light curry sauce. There is also a small supermarket in this area.
La Conga is opposite a good swimming beach and is moderately priced. I'd suggest that you pay a little more and find superior lodgings elsewhere in Sete.
