“Nice apartment complex - unfortunately too noisy in the evening!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2010

Cute apartment complex in a nice area very close to San Bou beach (longest sand beach on the island). Unfortunately the nearby Club San Jaime does (very loud) live performances every night (may-september) making it impossible to sit outside and enjoy the evening. The nearby restaurants do not offer anything special, they are fine for a quick bite. The apartment was very clean and well equipped (electric kitchen stove/oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, toaster, electric iron, TV) and the terrace was great in the morning for breakfast. Unfortunately, due to the noise from the nearby Club San Jaime in the evening we cannot recommend this apartment complex in high season (at least those apartments near the club which is located at Passeig del Prat and Carrer Sant Jaume Medit - on google earth you will see a blue giant water slide nearby).

“Had the place to myself”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2009

5 day break in late October. The staff very friendly and 2 bed apts were well equipped with microwave and gas oven. Bring tea, soap, matches etc as these are very expensive.
Chilly at night....heater hire for 20 euros a week.
Had sunny beach to myself apart from a few nudists. Pavarotti was on at the nitespot.
His voice was off, no doubt due to spending 2 years in a coffin!
Main bedroom had low pulsed hum at night. Changed to the other room, but could be a prob for families.
Upper apts had sunny verandah for sunbathing...ask for one!

“Perfect, relaxing, ideal holiday for families or couples”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2009

Stayed for the 3rd time at San Jaime, Son Bou. We travelled later this year at begining of October. The weather was mid 20s, some rain but sunny most days. The resort was very quiet, maybe a touch too quiet for us although all restaurants and shops were open.
The beach fantastic and not at all busy.
**We have always booked an apartment online and sorted out own flights - big savings rather than using tour operator **.
San Jaime classed as 2* but I would recommend this resort to anyone .....
From the beach turn right and take a wonderful walk to St Thomas the next resort along.
About an hours slow pace you will arrive there. If you have a drink in the hotels you can use their pools for the day! Well we did!

Only downside this year - prices have shot up over whole island - although the euro to pound is low the actual prices of everything in Menorca very expensive.
You will pay £20.00 per head for 2 course meal with a drink each. Breakfast everywhere costing £8-£9.00 each for full english with a drink.
Best restaurant still Las Dunas, at bottom of hill on route to beach. Alot of other restaurants offering a good meal deal - choose from various starters and mains for 12 euros each. Good value.
Be prepared to spend more than you would at home for foods.
Loaf bread approx £2.00 / can coke £1.50 / wine and beer £3.00 per pint and glass / toilet rolls - unbelievable price of £2.50 for 4!!
Taxi ride from airport to San Jamie increased by double in a year - expect to pay 30 euros each way.
On the whole fantasic break again - we will return !

“lovely place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2008

we first went here in 2007 and enjoyed it so much we booked for 2008 straight away, not much had changed except the cost of living, seems we are paying double the cost for most things like bread, milk, beer etc, and things had deff gone up since last year, which has put us off going again.
most places to eat offer the same sort of menu , we , like many others had favourites of course , ours being bonni's. in most places the staff were friendly and helpful.
strange place the kit-kat bar.. english bar??? serves food, pizza from place next door or offers from the menu from the spanish bar the other side, but i give juliet her due, she did uses to make her own special dishes..... chilli con carni, lasagne, curry......english bar???? lol whats wrong with pie and mash or steak and kidney pie ?
last year we stayed in zone 3 but this year we were in zone 5, a little dissapointed as its further to walk to the centre of son bou but only an extra 5 mins maybe, but well worth it, much nicer complex, staff were more friendly and the place was kept clean and tidy, well until we had the mini hurricane of course lol.
the pool in zone 5 is a shaped pool rather then the square boring type in 3
rather then hire a car we used buses, very reliable, always on time, friendly helpful drivers, and modern buses, a credit to menorca. and not costly at all!
beware of the nudist beach, some of them have great pleasure in showing off and trying to embarrass passers by, why do they have to stand up by waters edge , pointing and reading a book or doing crossword beats me!
for the more energetic types, a walk to santa tomas along beach and over cliffs is deff a worth while trip, takes about an hour, unless you wanna jog.
there is a road train that runs all day i think , to take you to beach, shops etc, drivers a bit of a misery, we waited for 10 mins, and never had the right money, so he would not take us!!! how are we suppose to know?????

“Self catering at Son Bou”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2008

My g/f and I saw the offer from Tompsons for self catering accom for £2 pppn at Son Bou so we took this up, got the week we wanted and the flight was with Monarch so we were ready to go on our first self catering holiday.

The complex was called San Jaime in the resort of Son Bou which if you've ever been to any Spanish resort the bars and restaurants are all the same you've ever seen and are part and parcel of spanish holidays, very acceptable. We took a small amount of food out with us so we could eat when we wanted to when we arrived. We were in zone 4 room 71 bottom floor with just one floor above. The resort was very quiet due to shortly ending season. Nobody above us so it was very quiet some families nearby but generally this was a quiet location and fronted the nature conservation area across the road. Nearby was the supermercado and the bakery and the Restaurant where they had nghtly entertainment which was mainly copycat groups but they were all very good and a mostly enjoyable way to spend your evening with food if you wanted

The room was cleaned every other day with fresh bedding and towels. No complaints there. Everything worked in the apartment and we were very pleased with the space available. ANTS - yes they can be a problem but we made the problem by leaving an empty biscuit wrapping out overnight and come morning they were all over it. Keep food away and they don't bother you.

We really enjoyed this holiday, it was exceptionally cheap £185 in total we paid, can't complain about that. We'd definately go again at that price. The beach is fantastic, long and lovely white sand and exceptionally clear water. It costs 6 euro for a sunbed, but you can get used to lying on the sand.

Sunbeds by the pools in zones 3 & 5 were free but the ones at zone 4 you had to pay for. We tended to go to the beach every day, which was a 10 min walk from zone 3 and a 15 min walk from zone 5.

There were plenty of places to go and eat in and most of the prices were the same in all of them. We went to La Compostella which is really nice inside, the food was fantastic and didn't cost any more than any of the other cafes or restaurants around.

Definitely would go back there and fantastice place for families.
