There are a few things to consider before you go to Son Bou, first and most important is the fact that once you arrive ,you will be stuck in a small town with a few shops, restaurants and very expensive supermarkets. The only way to escape is by hiring a car [ very very expensive] by taxi ,5 euros per kilometre, or by bus which only goes to Mahon the capital and transfer from there. We have only just returned and the exchange rate in the resort is basically one for one,so just take these prices as sterling
sun bed by the pool £3
sun bed on the beach £17 per day
hire an electric kettle £11 per week
sliced loaf in supermarket £4
small bag of walkers crisps by the pool £1.50
small bottle of water £1.50
There are three cafes on the beach that are dearer still
Do not be put off Son bou ,the beach is fantastic and the town itself is spotlessly clean
but if you are going self catering ,try and take whatever you can with you ,there are a lot of things that they dont mention in the brochure ,so be prepared for a few surprises ,like the fact that even the water slide by the pool will cost £1 a go ,Enjoy
