We were transferred into these apartments after the ones we were supposed to be staying in were overbooked. (We soon discovered that 80% of the other guests were in exactly the same position). Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly receptionist and a lovely reception area. So far so good, until the manager arrived. Well, i have never met a ruder man in my entire life. A member of my party said a friendly "Hello!" to him, only to be completely ignored. Anyway, we were shown to our room, which was spacious and the balcony was huge with a fantastic view of the sea and Zante Town. The kitchen area however, was a joke. You could not possibly sit 1 person around that table, let alone 4 or 5. The kitchen equipment was also basic.

The maid service, credit where credit is due, came in everyday and made the beds, changed the sheets about 2 times a week. However this was the only thing they did. The most they did with the bathroom was splah a bit of water around.

The pool area was kept fairly clean, but there were some safety aspects. There was a divng board which they had attempted (unsuccessfully) to block off. There was couple of signs that said 'no diving' but as you can imagine they were completely ignored and there were people diving into the water left right and centre, which could prove dangerous for smaller children. There were also a number of grids around the pool which were not sufficiently blocked off and i saw at least 3 children with their foot down them. When somebody went to tell a member of staff about this, the handyman (who was actually a very pleasant man) came along with a bit of wood to put over the top of the hole. Now tell me how that is going to stop a kid from meddling in it.

The poolside bar was fantastic. The food and service could not be faulted. The staff, a man and a woman, were friendly and polite, and the food and drink was reasonably priced. The rooftop bar could also not be faulted, there were fantastic views of the pool area and the sea, and the barman was friendly and would always make the effort to chat.

In the brochure, these apartments are rated at 4 stars. In truth, they should be around 2 stars for the facilities. Don't get me wrong, most of the staff were extremely polite and the rooms were lovely, just the manager let his hotel down. The pool area could also do with some work.

we have just come back from 2 weeks in porto iliessa, we should have stayed at windmill bay but was told the week b4 that it was overbooked and had been transfered,(along with 60% of the hotel guest ) the location of porto iliessa is gr8 but it definitely is not a 4 star, maids came in everyday but just made beds(don`t look under them) and shut curtains. air con only works if you shut both sets of doors in ach room and then it can be hit and miss sometimes, utensils are very basic in kitchen(not that i cooked ) but didn`t even have a bread knife. the balconys are large and we had a apartment at the front facing the sea and the sunrise in the morning was fantastic, the pool area is good with great views and plenty of sunbeds, snack bar is good and reasonably priced. gr8 roof top bar which opens at 6 but closes as soon as george can get away. gr8 views from roof top bar . straight across the road (which is rather busy so be carefully) from the hotel are 2 off the best restaurants in argassi, (zorbas and papillion) , aphrodite and castaways are also good and both are roof top restaurants, all in all we had a gr8 holiday and loved argassi as is wasn`t too busy for the time of year, would go back to zante but would go to keri bay or kalamaki as these were beautiful, hope this helps you and doesn`t put you off too much, and have a gr8 holiday.

We stayed in this hotel in july 2008 and it is one we,ll not be recommending to anyone.The hotel was meant to be a 4star,you,re avin a laugh.the maid came in every day and made the beds and that was it,didnt bother cleaning,changed the bed just twice a week same with the towels.the air conditioning didnt work,so we went to see the manager, well, that nasty man shouldnt be allowed near the public.Because we kept our airconditioning key on when we went to the pool he threatened to throw us out.We also saw him have heated arguments with other hotel guests and staff.When our 2 weeks were up we tried to rent the room for the day but they wouldnt let us.With having too give up your room at twelve oclock on the last day and with14 hours to go before we were picked up we asked if we could possibly have a shower in the shower room and were disgusted to be told you had to pay 3 euro for a shower and 2 euro for a towel.On a brighter note the rest of the staff were very friendly especially the girl who served at the poolside cafe.My wife dropped her purse and she hadnt into our room.The resort wasnt that bad but the locals said it was 60% done from any other year so the pubs were mostly empty and after twelve oclock dead.

Any website or brochure will portray a quite lovely hotel 4star with all the amenities, reality is a lovely foyer and that is as far as it goes, the rooms are more like 2 star at a push, with a constant smell of excriment and not just the one we stayed in, with a kitchen no bigger to seat 1 person and extremely poorly equipped to match. The swimming pool looks inviting, be aware its fresh water and is not chlorinated you can see the suncream floating around with a yellow tinge to the cloudy water (Nice!) , we put our childrens sickness down to intake of the pool water, after 2nd day we chose not to use it.. if you like a beach then this will disappoint also 6 foot wide at its best and not the best by a long way, the staff were originally friendly until you start to complain then the furosity of the manager kicks in and its all down hill from then on if it could get any worse. it felt more like a torture than a holiday but you may have a different time you have been warned !!! I would recommend you go to Kalamaki village we spent 1 day there Fab!!! Would we go back? ..its all in the title!!
