My son(Englsh) and his wife(Spanish) and their 3 children who live in Spain wife's parents and my wife and I,were booked into this hotel on 25th August room 133,on a full board basis.Hotel is in a very good position opposite Calafell railway station and only 5minutes walk to a beach and promenade about 4 miles long.Life guard on duty sitting up high.Flat sandy beach and seabed. Our room 133 Balcony did not face the swimming pool.To get a room for this you need to book rooms 129--110,likewise for upper floors 229 etcThe hotel arranges entertainments for children all the evening up to midnight, even for toddlers.Spanish children always stay up late in the summer. It is a large hotel and there were only two other English families staying there.Hotel reception is tiny compared with the usual Spanish tourist hotel. But this hotel is for Spanish people and the types of food served is to their likening. We saw our first potatoe after 4 days.Spanish tend to eat mainly meat. The cold buffet was excellent, but you need to arrive for meals on time otherwise you may have to queue after half an hour. The guests appear to have been booked via Travel Agents as on the Welcome Card it states the Hotel does not accepy Debit or credit cards..All drinks bought during the week are on the slate and must be paid in Euros Cash. Two very large double beds are in each room(we had one each),good air conditioning and double glazing is very good, keeps the noise of children playing at midnight and the fast double decker trains passing just across the road. The area is geared for the Spanish families no Jet Skis, banana boats or amusements on the beach area.Mostly apartments and a few hotels. As there is no entertainment in the evenings people saunter along the promenade and visit numerous ice cream parlours,Hot even in late evening.29 degrees durin the day.Usual breakfasts but very poor cereals, advice pack a travelling kettle and take tea bags.Small packs of long life milk from local shop. The desserts are very good, you can keep going back for ice cream, fresh fruit, slices of gateau etc.No smoking in loiunge, reception area and restaurant, but strange thing is there is a cigarette machine oin the lounge/Large pool for adults plus and a smaller one for toddlers..Smokers tend to smoke sitting round the pool blowing smoke over their children.Would not be allowed in England.Towels on sunbeds does happen but there are plenty of beds, owing to Spanish staying in bed late in morning,or the sun too hot to sit under.Only saw two or three teenagers in the hotel,.One shop on beach does sell Daily Express or Daily Telegraph. It is a very good clean resort, lots of shops and bars.Perfect for a quiet holiday out of school holidays. Will go again next year.
