We stayed at the prestige for a week at the beginning of September 2007, with our 9 months old baby girl. We wanted somewhere where we could enjoy hotel amenities but the added benefit of self-catering style accomodations so this place was perfect. There are only i think about 14 blocks in a seperate area away from their sister hotel. We had the end top room overlooking the beach and pool. The hotel surroundings are beautiful and clean. BUT unfortunately for us we were BURGLED after about 4 nights of staying here!! We hadn't been back long after visiting friends on the otherside of the island, it was around midnight and I was breastfeeding our girl in the bed and a light came on in our room. Luckily I was awake so I was able to shout out and wake my husband. So I obviously scared them off. When we looked the patio door lock had been broken and it was slightly ajar. Obviously shocked and shaken we contacted reception straight away. Well the next 2 days was a complete farce and would take me too long to mention on here. But bascially they didn't believe us at first, we had to ring twice to get security to come to our room, police were not informed, Our rep was a joke and we had to plead for a new room!!!
They were as shocked as us I think because 'things like this do happen here!' was there reply and we were on 1st floor so they had to climb up a large pole to get to us. Where they after our valuables (watch maybe or even worse our pride and joy)

we spent 1 week at he punta prima prestige and had a great time with our 2 children (2 year old toddler & 4 month old baby). we had booked a superior room at the punta prima as we wanted the baby service facilities & larger room & were delighted to be given an apartment in the prestige part.
we had a ground floor apartment which i'd recommend for toddlers as there is lots of lawned area they can run around on whilst you lounge on the patio.
the apartment is a nice size, when you come in there's a shower & toilet. there's 1 large room which has a dining area with a kitchenette hidden behind doors which reveal a microwave which grills, small sink, 2 ring hob and fridge.this leads onto the lounge with sliding doors which lead into a large bedroom with a very large bed. a door from the bedroom leads into a large bathroom with double sinks, jacuzzi bath and double shower. all toiletries are provided including toothbrushes, toothpaste, razor & small tube of shaving foam. there are pool towels and all of the towels were changed daily with the bed linen every 3 days.there were 2 sets of patio doors, 1 from the lounge and another from the bedroom. the patio had a small table and chairs and 2 sun loungers. ours overlooked the garden and then onto the sea, from what i could see, all of the patios/balconies had good views.
the staff were very friendly and helpful, one example is when i went to get a glass of wine from the bar to take back to the room, the bar had closed but the lady poured me a glass and didn't charge me for it. she even offered to pour me another glass which i thought was very nice.
we ate in the restaurant and the food was hit and miss. there were no complaints at breakfast, but in the evening some of the food was tasteless. some of the dishes were very nice but others a bit of a let down.
the downside to us going in october was that some of the hotel restaurants were closed as well as the top pools. the pools didn't matter as there were 2 other pools - 1 in the prestige part and a larger one in the standard part. beware, the water is freezing but the toddler pools aren't too bad and our son spent most of his time in the toddler pool.
not sure about the evening entertainment, there was a children's disco which our son enjoyed a couple of nights but we were back at the apartment after that ended at 9pm.
there's not much to do outside the hotel, just a couple of restaurants & supermarkets (use these as the hotel supermarket is expensive and there's not that much there).
i'd recommend you hire a car and take a tour of the island - go to cuitadella's old quarter it's beautiful. there are lots of great beaches dotted around as well.

  • Liked — beautiful child friendly grounds & apartments overlooking the sea
  • Disliked — some of the facilities were closed

We spent 10 days at the Insotel Punta Prima Prestige in July 2008 (just before English school holidays). We were a little apprehensive as we have a 2 year old and this was really the first holiday we have taken with him into unknown territory!! However our apprehension was short lived! Being in the prestige part means you have bigger rooms with sliding doors to separate the bedroom from the living area (perfect for nap time / little ones earl bed time) leaving you free to sit on the terrace / watch TV wothout disturbing them. There is also a pool solely for the Prestige guests which had a toddler pool. As the resort was quiet our son had this all to himself most days!!

The Prestige restaurant is very child friendly - even the evening buffet whihc we only went to once (as we were concerned about suitability for kids) was brilliant. Although most of the food probably would not appeal to younger children (lobster etc...) there was a fresh pasta station where the chef would cook to order whihc our little one loved. We tried most of the eating facilities and leisure facilities across the resort (not just within Prestige) and cold not fault them. The kiddies disco at night was excellent and just enough to wear our little one out in time for bed!!

Punta Prima is a very small place ideal for young families and everywhere seems to offer kids menus. Transport links are good from the hotel if you want to visit places and we would recommend the road train to Binibecar!!

We will be back!

We stayed at the Punta Prima Prestige Suites for a week half-board at the end Aug/early Sep 2006.

Accommodation was first rate - we booked a Family suite. It was technically a 1 bedroom suite (King size bed for us, good sofa beds in the living area for the kids), but large sliding doors separating the bedroom/living area meant you could open the whole suite out during the day and have 2 bedrooms at night. It also had a fridge, sink and small hob all tastefully hidden away behind floor to ceiling folding doors.

There were 2 bathrooms, the main one just off the bedroom had a whirlpool bath (fill it with water, some bath gel, toddlers, turn it on and see if you can find your kids!), and an excellent powerful multi-jet shower.

The large terrace was the full width of the suite and had doors from the living area and from the bedroom. This meant at night we could sit out taking in the great sea view without disturing the kids.

As our kids were still in prams, it was great that everywhere was accessible by ramps or lifts - everywhere except the upper floor of the accommodation blocks. Our suite was on the ground floor (possibly by design, possibly by luck) so it wasn't an issue.

Aside from meal-times (the food really was excellent) we used the facilities at the attached Punta Prima Insotel Club. During the days we spent on resort we found the pool at Prestige was excellent for older kids and adults, but toddlers needed constant attention. The Insotel Club had a couple of very safe toddlers pools which they couldn't easily escape from or come to harm in.

There are also tons of sport facilities (numerous tennis courts, free mountain bikes, basketball, football etc etc) and the animation team were always keen to get people involved.

In the evening, the bar at the Prestige was very adult oriented (and would be excellent for a chill-out), but all the family action (mini-disco, kids show etc.) was in the main hall in the Insotel Club.

All in all we would definitely go back for a relaxing break, but a hire car was a must to make the most of Menorca. Punta Prima itself was a little quiet and the exposed beach (about 5 mins walk away from the side entrance to Prestige) was best avoided on breezy days. There are numerous great beaches on the island though.

There is a great view of the resort from Google Earth as it is so large. Go to the southernmost point on the island (thats Punta Prima) and find the chess-board patterned buildings furthest right of the deep beach. They form the right hand boundary of the Insotel Club, and the Prestige suites are the group of 9 buildings and pool in the bottom left-hand corner near the road.

  • Liked — Size, Layout, Bathrooms
  • Disliked — No privacy on Terrace.

came back from the resort 7th of October. What can i say anyone who is thinking of going here the accomodation is fantastic the service is excellent, apart from mardy on reception. The resort is very quiet and scruffy.
The rooms are very large and kept very clean and the facilities first class. We had a family suite for two of us for under £800.00 so shop around there are bargins. Would i go back again yes if they picked the accomodation up and put it in Cala n Bosch.
