Please don't book this hotel is an absolute waste of money - we have moved from the hotel this morning to another called hotasa taburiente plaza which is same price and so much better.

That hotel - food is awful not much choice, window wouldn't shut obviously a safety issue, photos on Thomson site don't represent it, damp everywhere, wood peeling off on all the doors- basically waste of money! Bar shut by 10 as no one there! It's awful so please don't book it ask to book the taburiente where food, staff, location is great!!

“If you like peace and quiet this hotel is for you”

We travelled to la palma with freinds knowing that the island is unspoilt and not a tourist trap. Having done our research we knew what the resort had to offer and it did not disappoint us. This is definitely not a place for people seeking the high life! There is not a great deal to offer folk looking for wild nights and discos! The hotel however is clean, the rooms well maintained and the pool is large enough. The food is buffet style and adaquate. The staff were freindly and helpful and all in all we had a good week.

“A 3 star gem awaiting culinary disaster....”

The aparthotel itself is very nice.
The rooms are a great size and have a good kitchen(by Spanish standards), with a microwave and hot plates.
The one bed apartments are clean, simple and most with a sea view outlook. The water was always hot and the showers provided a good, refreshing spray. Bed was comfortable. Very quiet at night.

We stayed on a half board basis and thought we had landed very lucky upon the great choice for breakfast, from cereals, to continental to English breakfasts. Fresh juices and a good choice of coffees and teas. The restaurant is open from 0730 - 1030am and 1930 until 2230 in the evening.

The evening meals were disappointing, cold plates, same tasting lukewarm food and not a lot of choice for vegetarians, most people we spoke to were of the same mind. The rep with Thomsons is more than aware of it. I don't feel it will be long before someone gets food poisoning!!!!! If we were to stay here again it would definitely be on a B & B basis.
The facilities are a large, very cold pool and two smaller warmer ones. Sunbeds were always available and free.
The bar was a different story, trying to get service was a nightmare!! Staff in general were welcoming and pleasant. Predominantly seemed to be English and German visitors.

The apart hotel is well located in a quiet cul de sac, about 5 minutes from the beach and two minutes from the nearest bars. Prices were reasonable and alcohol measures very generous. Not much going on, but great for walkers or people wanting to chill out for a week.

“Great value for a relaxing stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2010

We had a last minute bargain so we weren't expecting anything too luxurious; however, we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is divided into separate blocks - we stayed in 'La Gomera' which gave us a lovely sea view, huge balcony and family sized apartment. We stayed on a half board basis, but it was very useful to have a kitchen area as well. The hotel is very clean and the maid service efficient and unobtrusive. The staff were friendly as well - they would always smile and say hello. The food was better than I expected for the price we paid - plenty of fresh fruit and wholemeal bread was a definite bonus. It was a bit samey, and yes, sometimes the foot could be hotter, but again we couldn't complain for the money we spent.
The island itself is beautiful - if you want nightlife and loads of entertainment, go somewhere else, but if you like walking, nature, fantastic scenery and a well earned rest we would recommend it. We don't drive, so found the bus service very useful and comfortable. We also took an excursion to the highest peak on the island, which later took us through beautiful scenery down to farmers market - good value considering how much was covered.
The weather wasn't fantastic - it rained every day, but the rain came in gentle showers that didn't last that long and it was always warm. (We could have had a lot worse considering it was January).
We particularly loved walking through the rain forest in the north east - when we emerged at the top there was a brilliant view down to the sea, with rainbows!
Another highlight was the fantastic restaurant in Los Llanos - 'Brasero mar y tierra', great food and some of the best service we've ever had. Good for just a drink, too - they bring you free food anyway!
Thre was only one day sunny enough for the beach, so we took advantage and virtually had the black sand beach at Los Cancajos to ourselves. We would recommend this if you want to get away from it all - of course I imagine the summer months are much busier.....

“just not quite 3 *”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2009

Got a good deal on the price and was value for money. The apartment was clean and very spacious and had a nice view. I read reviews about the food and they were as described, so no surprises. It was a shame because with a few small changes this could be improved very easily to a much higher quality. The meals had been cooking for some time and nothing actually tasted fresh. They were masters at not wasting anything and scrambled egg had some strange uses in rice and potato salad. If they had staff to just fry an egg fresh and not try too hard to pre prepare tray after tray it would make such a difference. The pool was clean and surroundings were safe and well kept outside.
We found the corridors to the rooms were dark and shabby this could again be easily sorted. To save money and energy the lights on the corridors were on timers which would have been ok had the switches been easy to find but we had to feel our way along the wall to find a light. Not only was this unsafe but just was annoying as this was supposed to be a 3 to 4 star hotel. The fire doors were damaged so please either repair them or remove them ! We however did enjoy the holiday apart from those minor but irritating things.
We decided to eat out for a change but found the standard in one local restaurant poor. We ate at Tiuna terraza Centro Cancajos and were served a pizza that had been fried in a pan and with so much cheese on the top it had gut churning amounts of oil floating on the top of it. The staff/ owners looked like they were at the end of the road perhaps losing money no smile or welcome. They charges us for bread that we didn't ask for or eat. I am sorry but really one to avoid, I wish we had as even thinking about that pizza makes me feel sick.
We did hire a car with Oasis rental and got excellent service and enjoyed touring the island. Most roads consist of many hairpin bends so not for the timid drivers.
We went to Tazacorte on the west side of the Island and this was a nice day out we ate at the first Italian Restaurant opposite the lifguard station before you get to the main promenade and had an excellent meal fresh and perfectly cooked. Staff were friendly and helpful we had a nice time. Well worth a look as the weather was so much warmer on this side and if you like to sunbathe it had a good beach.
We visited the south of the island and made our way to the La Princess 5 * hotel that we nearly booked. It was a lovely Hotel but down a steep cliff about a 20 min drive. Thats why it is All Inclusive, so fine if you are happy to stay in one place but nowhere to walk. We made the right choice with Cancajos.
Conclusion : Nice Island , hire a car as lots to see, food ok, weather good, minimal shopping as quiet place, very relaxing and we recharged ourselves. Worth a visit if you want peace and quiet.
