Fontana is a decent place to stay, not very high level of service, you are pretty much on your own, but it is clean, and staff is helpful. Dinner in the hotel is nice, but local restaurants are also very good. Our room had a small kitchen, decently equipped so we were able to cook.
Reception is all the way up the hill, not very nice if you travel with kids and lots of bags. They will help you with luggage if you ask them.
If you are near the sea, like we were, you will enjoy the beautiful view, BUT, it may come with unexpected price- beaches are public, so hotel has no authority over teens who gather late at night and make quite a noise. All you can do is call a reception, and then they will call police. I did hope for more sleep, after all, it was vacation.
Hotel has two pools, one for kids and one for adults, but they are both very small. After all, you do have sea, and extremely nice beaches every 100 meters. Everybody can find their favourite (stones, pebbles, sand). For those travelling with kids, hotel doesn't have any special activities for them, and also, no laundry service. For that you are on your own.
Overall: I really enjoyed our vacation in Jelsa; beautiful island and charming little town, amazing smell of the sea, pine trees and lavanda. It is not crowded with people, so you can really enjoy your time. People are warm and ready to help. You absolutely must try some of the local products (example, wine Plavac, olive oil, tomatoes and melons). Don't forget to buy small bags stuffed with dry lavanda. And, do visit local restaurant "Murvica". Its hidden behind the church, I am sure somebody will show you the way.
Room Tip: Close to the sea may mean too much noise from teens gathering on the beach.
