I loved staying here. The rooms were large and comfortable. The food was amazing. The service was fantastic and the hot water was constant and reliable. You cant ask for more.

I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to all travellers.

We booked this hotel thru MSME Gangtok when we had come for the training of small scale units at GANGTOK for the Government of Sikkim.
Mr. Dorji Bhutia and his better half Mrs Nima Dorji Bhutia were one excellent couple who made our stay comfortable in Gangtok. They are assisted by their son the handsome Mr. Tenzing and one sweet girl Ms. Gita. The ambience is very warm and personal. It is not like any hotel where treatment is very impersonal and businesslike. This sweet couple help you out in your visits also by arranging transport. The food is very homely.
They speak excellent english and Hindi communication is not a problem. The sandwiches prepared by Mrs Dorji are superb and she offers tips when you plan to places like Nathu La.What makes TASHI TAGEY uniques is

Nima and Dorji and their staff are wonderful hosts, esp Nima who had long, real conversations with us. She is also a wonderful cook and for the 7 days that we were there we ended up eating a lot at the hotel as the food is freshly prepared. There is abundant hot water. I would stay there again.
The only caveat is that if you go there in the winter months like me, the rooms get really cold and there is no heat provided. The only other con is that it is located on a busy junction tho the rooms are quiet. So it depends on what you're looking for.

Dorji and Nima, an ideal couple in an ideal setting running an ideal hotel. Warm comfort tucked in the hills and the fantastic food that Nima cooks makes you feel rejuvinated on a holiday. She also is a socially responsible entrepreneur encouraging other women of the hills to learn lot of crafts during winter by teaching them free of cost by also providing materials to them.
