We had a very nice time at Rhenock House. The good things going for it is that it is in a quiet part of town with a nice view below it., with most rooms having nice large scenic window views. The place is meticulously kept up, not luxurious, but very comfortable. Best of all was the owner, Mr. Pradhan who really went out of his way to make our stay comfortable, giving us good advice on all, even driving us to a trekker's shop on one occasion. Rest of the staff is very nice. Their english is passable, but could be a bit better. Biggest downside i found was that the restaurant had no night heating. Actually the whole lobby has no night heat. Gangtok can get quite cold at night. They bring you a little portable electric heater, which really helps inside the room, but doesn't do much inside the larger areas of the inn. Food was quite good, selection was too limited and they took a very long time to prepare it. But everything was done with a smile and the way we liked it. I found it a bit on the pricey side comparing with other similar places, but the staff attention and quiet relaxing environment made it well worth it. Would definitely stay there again!
Room Tip: Upper level rooms have better view. Double bed rooms are a lot nice than ones with 2 single beds.
