“Loved this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Stayed here straight after Pondicherry had been hit by a cyclone. Although half their rooms were still closed, and for the couple of days we were there the wifi and lifts weren't working, they'd done an incredible job of making the place fit for service in such a short space of time. Our room was beautiful - spacious and comfortable, with a lovely bathroom. The hotel is right on the seafront, and 5 minutes from everything the gorgeous city of Pondicherry has to offer. Bars, restaurants, boutiques, quite streets to walk along. This is a great city, and this is the place to stay. Fantastic service - the reception staff couldn't have tried harder to help us with all our requests - and the bar and resturant staff are highly attentive and friendly as well. The hotel's new, though the styling feels classic Pondicherry. We'd go back there without any hesitation!

“Noisy, dirty and staff who don't care”

My mother had told me a lot about Pondicherry and so together with my Lonely Planet book, I excitedly awaited this place! But alas our stay here was very disappointing. Firstly, the water comes out of the tap black and putrid. We rang staff to fix the hot water 5 times and on the fifth occasion he wanted a tip! We had problems with many staff. The assistant manager was a woman and she showed a bad attitude towards my husband. I am born in India but this was not what I had in mind when I wanted to show my Aussie husband India! Because it was so dirty we chose to eat biscuits and snacks in our room and couldn't wait to get out! Foreingers are used to better living conditions and with the prices charged by this hotel they must provide them!

Avoid this place look for another hotel. You have been forewarned!

Room Tip: Pondicherry itself has a lot of interesting history. But enjoy it all with another hotel.

“Very good hotel apart from staff service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I have recently beed there for one night stay. Good location close to the sea, hotel is quite new and modern. Large and confortable room, bathroom is nice.
Breakfast is quite good.
We had problems with the staff as we booked for a triple room, with 3 beds, and as we arrived for check-in they wanted to give us a matress instead of the extra bed. Then they said they would get the bed from outside and we could go out for dinner, but when we came back there was no bed, they didn't tell anything before we went to the room. After 1 hour discussion we got another room, while some hours before they said the hotel was fully booked!!

But there was a lot of noise, from the water pumps on the roof - don't stay at room 25!

“Lovely Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

A very charming hotel right on the beach front promenade. Nightly promenading by the populace in front of the hotel seems to be the usual practice. It is a pleasant walk through the French quarter to the Indian markets and shopping streets. The restaurant is excellent.

Room Tip: My room had a noisy hum coming from an inside wall, but there was no problem in changing rooms.
