Recently travelled to the south of India, and stayed in the Dune Eco Beach Hotel, Pondicherry. The reception itself seems a bit under dressed. Was hoping that the resort itself would be better, but unfortunately was not really fascinated by the place. The website looks awsum, and the rates are awsum too...so the expectations are quite high aswell.
The property is spread over 50 acres, but unfortunately may be because of the recent cyclone looked quite washed off ! The staff is courteous but the upkeep of staff and uniform is not to a great level. The room which we had got, rather the cottage I would say, was like a old set up of some maharaja of India, with some broken furtinures, which some people also call antiques..are kept at various places..in the night the cottages which are quite islotaed from each other give a wierd and errie feeling.
With no form of entertainment , except yoga and massages which are also quite expensive..wonder if this place is worth a visit.
Probably people from the west will be more attracted..but for Indians, we have much better options and a cheaper rate !!
I would say Dune can do better...
Room Tip: ask for the room with the pool, atleast you will have something to do !
