“Great experience but not for everyone”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Recently stayed at the Dune for the second time. Overall the experience was terrific, the staff were extremely helpful and the food at the restaurant was exceptional. It was also wonderful to be in the thick of nature, although I can understand why that aspect may overwhelm some guests. One drawback would be the quality of the room we stayed in. Although nice, it was starting to show its age a little and could use a coat of paint. Will return for sure.

“Dream destination in itself!”

We stayed at Dune and loved every feature and the overall spirit of the village/hotel with a unique cottage experience. The people were kind and helpful, the restaurant food was impeccable and offered enough variety to eat in daily! In addition, the atmosphere was artistic, inspiring and calm. If I had to make a suggestion, it would be to provide more evening entertainment since the hotel is far from the city. Otherwise, a great pleasure and I would recommend to all!

Room Tip: All are great!

“The worst exp. of my life”

We had booked dune for new year 2011 celebration. On our first night the Cyclone was forecast. The management knew everything but didn't inform the guest about it. On the day of cyclone we didn't get proper food to eat. In the entire property of 42acres they have kept only 4 staff to help during night time. There was a heavy leakage in our room but no one came for help. Staff knew about the leakage but didn't offer us another room. Entire night without lights we watched all the tiles were falling out, trees were falling, Kindly see the photos to understand. The management was not at all ready with any back up plan for basic needs like Food, candles, torch, first aid box etc In the morning no one bother to check our condition. We had to manage everything by our self. I have traveled all over world like USA, NEW ZEALAND, AUSTRALIA, EUROPE,CHINA, MANY PARTS OF INDIA but never seen such bad management. DON'T EVER GO TO DUNE EVEN IF IT IS FREE........you will be treated like Baggers’. The management had left us on Gods mercy.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good but the management is terrible. Don't go even if you get free room.

“Over rated !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Recently travelled to the south of India, and stayed in the Dune Eco Beach Hotel, Pondicherry. The reception itself seems a bit under dressed. Was hoping that the resort itself would be better, but unfortunately was not really fascinated by the place. The website looks awsum, and the rates are awsum too...so the expectations are quite high aswell.

The property is spread over 50 acres, but unfortunately may be because of the recent cyclone looked quite washed off ! The staff is courteous but the upkeep of staff and uniform is not to a great level. The room which we had got, rather the cottage I would say, was like a old set up of some maharaja of India, with some broken furtinures, which some people also call antiques..are kept at various places..in the night the cottages which are quite islotaed from each other give a wierd and errie feeling.

With no form of entertainment , except yoga and massages which are also quite expensive..wonder if this place is worth a visit.

Probably people from the west will be more attracted..but for Indians, we have much better options and a cheaper rate !!

I would say Dune can do better...

Room Tip: ask for the room with the pool, atleast you will have something to do !

“Beached...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Well, I have been a regular visitor to the Dune since before its inception. When I stumbled upon the Dune the first time the concept of eco beach hotel was what my friends called "Nouveau Riche".

Now, when I go back there for three things that makes me want to recommend the place to any discerning traveler is the place, people and the peace...The Dune experience beyond explaining...

Room Tip: Well all the rooms are theme based and offer a unique experience...starting from the tower rooms to...
