We stayed 4 nights at Villa Helena in 2 lovely rooms (one on ground floor and one on first floor) and we enjoyed our stay very much! The house is nicely restored and ideally located in the French quarter, walking distance though to beautiful muslim houses and to lively tamul quarter and market.
The owner was not in Pondicherry during our stay, but we enjoyed Josephine's warm welcome very much: as soon as we arrived we were greated with a warm smile, offered tea and lemon soda on the beautiful terrace and we felt at home. The man in charge of breakfast service was also very kind and the whole staff has always been helpful.
The only weak point is that the area is rather noisy at night, on European standards (but it was the beginning of our trip and we found out later that it could be far worse in most Indian towns!), as Bussy street has a lot of trafic and the nearby bar is open late.
