Just back from a two week break as this apart-hotel and I think everyone else who have written a review have made fair points.
The resort of Sa Caleta is so small that it doesn't even merit its own resort map. If a get-away from it all, not move from the hotel complex type of holiday is what you are seeking, then this will suit you. There is very little to speak of in Sa Caleta, though the beach, which is just down a few steps from the hotel is nice and the sea is very safe for small Children as its quite shallow for some distance.
If you are looking for anything more than the above, then this is not the place for you. I would suggest Cala Blanca or Calen Bosh
Check in is done at the Hotel Blanc Palace, in a "look at what you could have won" kind of way. After seeing that, its somewhat of a disapointment to be shown where you a really staying!
As an All Inclusive customer, we could take all of ours meals in the Blanc Palace, or choose to have breakfast in the Sa Caleta Playa. As the Blanc Palace is a 4 star Thompson Platinum Hotel, it goes without saying that the food was very good. The problem arises in the Two tier system which is applied to Dinner. All S'a Caleta customers had to go to the earlier sitting 6-7.30. The paper table clothes and napkins were replaced by proper linen for the 2nd sitting when the Blanc Palace customers came in. If you arrived at 7pm for your meal you would find the food being cleared away and the floors swept in readyness for the Blanc Palace customers. It positivly screamed 1st and 2nd class!
The All-Inclusive finished at 11pm on the Dot when the Bar closed completley. The "Entertainment" was not very good to say the least and the Kids entertainment was run for and by a German team, so was delivered in German. Sadly, as the resort is so small, there wasn't any alternative.
The two weeks we were there must have been the busiest of the year. The compex was heavily overbooked, several people had to spend their 1st night at other hotels or in rooms which were not booked. We had booked two, one bedroomed apartments and were given one, two bedroom apartment when we arrived.
Having said that, the room issues were resolved swiftly and a couple of plumbing problems in our apartment were dealt with very quickly.
Sunbeds were an issue, there simply wasnt enough of them.
Our rooms were cleaned three times each week, the bedding changed once, towels changed three times.
The Ant problem which others mention is an island wide problem I think, you just have to be aware of it as you would at home and not leave anything out that would attact them.
One of the resorts redeaming feature is it's proximity to Cuidadella. Buses are frequent or its a cheap taxi fare and about 5 minutes away. Its well worth a visit.
I personaly would not ever go back to either the resort or either the Blanc Palace or the Sa Caleta Playa. I can, however, see how it would suit families with little ones.
