My partner and i stayed here over the christmas week in room 149. Luckily, this apartment had been quite recently refurbed. The general self catering facilities were excellent and the apt itself was comfortable, unfortunately, due to the position of the room within the complex, it NEVER receives any sunlight, meaning that the lights had to be switched on all day and the balcony is pretty much surplus to requirements. Furthermore, the bedroom it extremely noisey due in part to the construction of the building and the acoustics due to the hard surfaces within the apt. we were awoken every night either by people returning the their rooms, doors slamming, or the trundle of trollies one the cobbled tiles outside. Also we could hear the plumbing from other rooms and other guests toilet habits..we could also hear the women next door vomiting down the toilet every other night. Although the room was clean we were horrified/disappointed to discover a used tampon wrapped in toilet secreted beneath the bathroom sink.
The resort itself it ok but its a long walk to Playa Vista, the only decent beach in Los Cristianos. The other beach is essentially a harbour/dock.
I would recommend any visitor to rent a car and visit Mount teide and the north of the island. the scenery is spectacular and so diverse. the north of the island, although cooler is much more picturesque with lush greenery compared to the barren nature of the south.
personally, we hated the tacky ex-pat bars outside the complex, a mixture of karaoke and/or awful caberet 'entertainment' on backing tracks. youre in pure peter kay ';phoenix nights' territory here.
the apts are well located for iceland and a cpl of local supermarkets but are pretty much the very last apts along this particular stretch of coast. the beach opposite is vile and befouled with dog much and a small homeless/tent community.
we wouldnt return to los cristianos, but if we did, we'd stay much further up the coast nearer to the amenities as the continual trudge up and down the coast constantly being approached by street hawkers and the often rude bar owners/restauranteurs became really, really aggravating.
