Mykonos is known as the party island for the young and trendy but as a young family we found a perfect mix of sand and relaxation at the Petasos. The fabulous Platys Gialos beach 200 metres away is the perfect place to spend the day relaxing under the beach huts(pay 10euro to secure your spot from one of the beach restaurants) while the kids play in the clear shallow waters.Staff were friendly, helpful and accomodating. Although the resort has 2 pools, a room with a pool would be very handy if you have young children who still have day naps. The private pools are not private in any sense except that they are for your use only. Rooms were not overly spacious but comfortable, room service friendly and efficient. Breakfast was a buffet full of delicious and sweet treats with views of the bay. Mind though, the salt levels in the main pool which had us floating without any effort!
Mykonos town is a ten minute bus ride away (about 1euro each way)with the bus stopping literally at the front of the hotel. If you wish to avoid the hustle and bustle of town, or have ran out of something last minute, there is a mini supermarket with most everything right next door to the hotel. There are many restaurants to choose from along the beach with standard beachy prices (pay for the convenience and beauty of dining alongside the beach). With our recent stays on various Greek Islands, we have learnt to lower our expectations in European accomodation and therefore have still enjoyed each one. If you are looking for a child friendly, clean and convenient accomodation, this is the place for you.
