I knew before I arrived that this hotel was not going to be anything fancy .. and I was right! At check-in they offered us the all-inclusive plan for 30 euros a day and we took it (primarily for the alcohol). The room was big enough and clean enough but I was already on the mindset not to expect much. The food was awful but we did munch on the pre-made sandwiches a few times out of desperation! There is a Spar food market within walking distance (5 min) that we visited frequently for bottled water, chips, and wine. We also picked up a bucket there, along with ice to create a "cooler" for the wine .. yes, ghetto! The hotel was mostly occupied by loud, drunk Brits but we had fun with them .. it is Ibiza after all!
We did go into town almost every night looking for a nice place to eat dinner.. the restaurants were decent. We did enjoy that every place had pitchers of sangria!
Overall, I would not return to the hotel or Ibiza ever again. It's lost it's appeal and the entire island is quite dated. The beaches were beautiful though! It seems as though the island still thinks it is a "hot spot" so they want to charge a lot but at the end of the day, everything was pretty run down & cheap looking. Forget any type of customer service at the hotel! If you are going to stay here, remember not to expect anything & you can have an enjoyable time!

i have never been treated so badly in all my life in a hotel what a dreadful place !! firstly arrived nobody at reception but took nearly an hour to check in at midday , then was spoken to like crap regardless had a bad vibe about this place soon as i got there . the staff seem to hate anybody who is english, coming in at night on my own being queit being told to get to bed now or you can sleep on the beach you english scum ?? i was horrified by the insults i recieved over the 6 days i was there. even at one point a scottish lad was asking nicely why the electric had gone off and he was spat at by the man on reception saying he made too much noise as he was coming in from a night out the lad was furious then the hotel manager threw the phone at him ! i have stayed in some rough places all over the world and i have never been treated so bad ever . fair enough if some people have had to much to drink but you cant speak to everybody like that ! bullied by spanish RACISTS !!!!! sorry to have had a rant but i feel i need to let people know what they are in for !! stay somewhere else and boycott these type of people

The Mare Nostrum is a clubhotel and caters for partygoers in summer time. If you dont like silly drunkeness, noise and bad behavior- you should choose another hotel in the high season.

the hotel is situated in Plays den Bossa- 15 min. from airport, 2 mins. from the beach and everything in reach on foot. Boats to ibiza port and Formentera is 3 mins. walk from the hotel. Bus to Ibiza Town just outside the entrance. i did find the receptionstaff friendly and helpful as the only ones in the hotel.

Rooms are basic but in good condition for a partyhotel, not very clean. The average furniture, aircondition (think there is a fee for this but did not use it), Tv with 2 english, 2 german, 3 italian and many spanish channels- you need to get the remote in the reception for 5EUR, which will be returned to you when you leave. Sometimes your keycard does not work- go to reception and get it re-charged. During my 10 day stay I did not have my linnen changed even once. Towels provided every day. Cleaners did not knock the door they simply just came in with no excuse if you were still in bed. My room was cleaned 2 times during my stay- which means they swept the floor. I did not find the cleaners friendly at all. Walls paperthin- bring earplugs. Not much hot water during my 10 days visit- cold showers.

You are able to get connected to the internet in the wifi areas- weekly rate is 40EUR which is fair- you can also buy a daycard at the machine. Hotels also provides terminals at EUR1 for 15 min. Hotel has some more features which I did not use- so I can not comment.

Beeing out of season the hotel was not in any way full- which I like. Barstaff were not friendly at all, actually they enjoyed mostly to ignore you, one staff sneezed into my cup and did not wash his hands- yikes! and he pointed out that I was only allowed 1 drink- as there were no one else at the bar he gave in and made me a cola and a coffee- muchas gracias! If you wanted something from the snackbar you had to wait for quite a long time- even as there were no one else waiting. Clearly they did not care about their guests at all.

The restaurant and its staff is the hotels weakest link.- the food is bad quality, repetetive and utterley tasteless. Its well presented I give you that- but it has no taste. The "chefs" coughs into the food- yikes and they clearly has no respect for the job they are doing. warm items are cold! A tasteless experience indeed. No one expects top cuisine on a 3 star spanish hotel- but this is really bad.
The staff in the restaurant are not there for the guests sake- no smiles, no answering back when greeted, they prefer to turn their back on you and ignore you. Even they have openingtime for meals- they really do not care less- they open when they see fit. even if people are going on excursions or need to go to the airport. They do like to chat with eachother and enjoy saying bad things about the guests- forgetting that some of us actually understands Spanish. and if any items are missing do not expect it to be done they are more busy doing nothing. I would suggest the hotel try to hire some staff which actually knows that they are in the service business. unfortunately this is quite common in spanish hotels- still a mystery to me that they do not have more pride in what they are doing. But this hotel in particular takes the price in bad manners. sad really.

But for the food quality I must admit I find it impressive that it is actually possible to make food everyday- for 10 days without any taste:-)

Needless to say that I will not be returning to this charmless hotel with its non charisma staff.

Just got back from staying at mare nostrum, we booked 11days all inclusive, i went with my boyfriend & another couple. We booked it threw travelrepublic & booked a room with private facilities & a sun terrace which was nearly £100 per room more than the standard room when we arrived we were told all the rooms were the same & there was no rooms with private facilities & sun terraces!! The hotel was clean the rooms were clean, beds very uncomfortable, food edible but not much choice for vegetarians, went out 2 eat a few times because we were sick of eating the same things. The bar staff were rude ignorant miserable especially the thin 1 with glasses I dreaded goin 2 bar when he was working he would blatantly ignore you even when you were the only 1 standing there. If u wanted anything from snack bar you could end up waiting 4 up 2 half an hour 2 be served they would pretend they hadn't seen u even though there was no one else 2 serve, horrible horrible bar staff.
