“Great family place”

Location: 10 mins taxi from airport, which means very quick transfers, it also means that lots of planes fly over the hotel so near that you imagine you could jump off the hotel roof and touch one. Some people expect that the noise will be annoying, but it really isn’t, it’s actually quite addictive to watch each one as it flies over. Don Toni is set at southern end of PDB, so about 10 mins walk from the main busy area, but only about 2 mins walk from Space club, which is awesome, and in all my visits has ever meant any problems with noise etc. Ibiza Town is about 10 mins in a taxi, or I prefer te walk myself, about 40 mins walk (if you are fairly fit) along the beach or road. Definitely worth a look, much more traditional than PDB, very interesting, some great designer shopping but also the old castle and lots of streets with great character. Oh yes, and the port too! Definitely visit Ibiza Town at least once daytime and once night time (when it is very different…)

Food: Buffet is excellent for a 3* in my opinion. Each lunch / dinner there are several different chef salads (and I don’t just mean 4 salad items chopped and put together, much more creativity and imagination than that, with some excellent sauces). Then you have the individual salad items, and most nights something special like cold shrimps, cold meat cuts, cheese night etc, to give a bit of variety. In the hot section, I would estimate there are perhaps 12 hot trays (?) each containing a hot meat or vegetable dish. So on a typical evening you might get here a fish dish, a couple of meat dishes (in sauce), 3 types of potatoes (always inc. chips), 3 types of veg, pasta with choice of 2 or 3 sauces, 2 or 3 items being cooked on a hot plate (eg. Pieces of steak, chicken, squid, fish etc with no sauce so you can do what you want with them!), then finally in the evening there is normally a meat being cut in front of you (roast beef etc) or a big paella. Is there anything I would add? Not realistically at a 3*…. Perhaps I’d personally like the flavours to be more ‘aggressive’, but I guess when catering for a largely British tourist, they have to keep it tame… Also, the paella used to have crab claws in it, those have gone in 2011, boo  But generally food is top class for a 3* in my view.

My only negative on the eating front would be the guests themselves, for two reasons. Firstly the waste – it is a buffet, you can go back as many times as you wish, so why people feel the need to pile their plates so high, then leave most of the food, is beyond me. Secondly, whatever happened to spacial awareness? So many people in the restaurant spin around, push in, step backwards etc with no concept of other people using the restaurant at the same time. Please people, just think before you move! Lol

Entertainment: The biggest plus of this place, the ents team are fantastic on the whole. Over the last 4 years there have been different faces come and go (and come back again in some cases), but on the whole the shows are incredible for what they are. Some people complain, but I would love to know what those people want to see. The only thing you never get is actual singing, as that would be near impossible with the amount of dancing that they all do. My personal favourite is always Moulin Rouge, but there are plenty of others like Lion King, ABBA etc. However it is not all jus tthem, there is a good mix of audience-participation entertainment too. Yes this is pretty standard from one hotel to the next, but there is such a nice atmosphere in the this place and the Ents team are so friendly and funny that it’s better here imo. Only complaint is that each year there seems to be one male (different each year) who is worryingly obsessed with the opposite gender, wandering round the pool all day trying to get a date for the evening and offering girls a ‘trip to the quiet bit of beach’ etc etc, touching them up on stage at times (!), perhaps they deliberately recruit one like that to have a ‘ladies man’, but from what I’ve seen the ladies much prefer the ones who just get on with their work and aren’t so slimy! But no big deal.

Minor improvement: If they had a help-yourself fridge for water at the bars, or even a 5litre tap-operated self-service water machine, it would save a huge amount of queuing at the bar for us sensible people (lol) who drink mainly water during the day…

Generally I love this place, I always have 3 or 4 hols each year, and this is the only place I always come back to year after year. Great reasonably priced family-friendly hotel (though price has increased a lot in last 3 years and if it does so much more then I might reconsider).

PS: If anyone has any specific questions, please ask me - I've been here 10 times in 5 years, so hopefully I will be able to help! :)

Room Tip: Hotel more quiet, Club near stage noisy, club near between in between. NB. Club and Hotel share all...

“could have been very good”

We visited the don toni in june 2010 for 1 week all inclusive with our then 3yr old daughter. The room was great, clean quite spacious for a hotel room. The balcony was tiny and we had been put on 5th floor so didn'y really let daughter out there. But the view was beautiful of the beach and coast line (if you didn't look down and see all the roof and air conditioning units and rubbish etc). The complex was always very clean although the hotel side was very dated and a very tired in places. There were three lifts in the hotel section and worked very slowly and tempremental, there was only one lift that went all the way down to the basement where the restaurant was- a little frustrating.
The food was VERY average and repetative-and we were there for only a week, however we all managed to find something to satisfy us, and compared to local prices worth the money. Drinks on the all inclusive were great.
The two pools were very clean, the pool by the hotel was always quiet which we found better for our youngster, although there were no sunbeds allowed the grass was fine to lay down a towel and the pretty trees gave some shade. The pool by the apartments was very crowded and noisy with the daily activities blasted over massive speakers amonst sunbeds. Drinks and snacks available from both pool bars.
The evening entertainment was centered around the kids, but for us it was alittle too much and a bit poor, and finding a seat was a nighmare! But there was the bar in the hotel which overlooked the beautiful beach but it was just a bit tired and sad.
The hotel is perfectly situated-right ont the beachfont, beds and parasols were a bit expensive but the beach was that nice that you were fine to throw a towel down and ideal to keep popping back to hotel.
The resort is really lovely, plenty to do and we even didn't mind the low planes (they weren't noisy and quite amazing to see actually) but i would imagine in high season it is quite a pull for the younger crowds rather than families.
Definately reccomend resort but as for the hotel I think there are better around. It is almost a nice place- nothing really wrong but just a bit dated in the hotel side. Maybe self catering would be the better option.

Room Tip: maybe book self-catering to get aparment side and up grade food when you are there

“Better than i expected”

I was unsure of what to expect after reading some mixed reviews on here. After arriving in the early hours i was suprised to find a spacious, clean room. I was on the second floor and found the room had plenty of storage with two twin beds which could be pushed together to make a double bed, a balcony with table and chairs facing the beach. The rooms were cleaned everyday and fresh towels were left.
The hotel is approx 5 mins away from the airport and would reccomend you to find a taxi which should cost about 6-7 euros. Yes you can hear the aireoplanes when they fly over but after while you tend not to give them much notice. And being so close to the airport you can really be suprised that you can hear them.
Space nighclub is very close to the hotel but where i was staying the noise wasn't bad at all. People who complain about the noise when they have children shouldn't stay at a clubbing resort at the end of the day.
I went half board and for found the food to be rather nice, different choices everyday. You are able to swa dinner for lunch if you have plans at the night
Overall for the money i would reccomend this hotel, as whilst i was there i loked at other hotels in the area which didn't seem up to scratch.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the beach seem quieter along with a nice view

“Not what we expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

We stayed here for 10 days last week of September till 8th of October. There were 16 of us altogether from grandparents to a 4 year old. When we first got there 12 of us were put into the hotel part with the other 4 in the club where all the entertainment was, a little word with the rep and the other 12 were moved straight away to the club.

The first 6 days were brill with nightly entertainment the entertainment team were fab and tried to get every1 involved, after that what a disappointment everything stopped as the whole hotel was closing due to end of season, which we were not informed of before we left.

There was a club on the beach next to the main entrance that went on all day and night with the bass line pumping, u could smell the ganja as u walked through the crowds to get onto the beach and had numerous people offering to sell is drugs while the kids were playing, plus several young men stripped naked infront of the kids and jumped in the sea after 5 mins they got out, dressed and made their way back to the club to carry on dancing off there faces.

Food was a disappointment to same for lunch and dinner just 2 main meal items changed each night.

Pool bar stopped serving food after 6 but in the broucher was supposed to go on till 12 with all Inc but u had to pay.

Couldn't go on excursions as not enough people so refunds were constantly given, kids were asking to come home after day 6 but we were still stuck there for another 4 days. They also starting cleaning all the sunbeds away around us at 3pm on the last day making us feel very unwanted so we all went to our rooms.

I never moan about anything but think first choice weren't offering what it said on the tin as we were informed by the rep in the hotel that first choice were aware of everything shutting down 4 weeks before we were due to fly.

All in all a big disappointment and we would never go back there again.

we visted this hotel in september 2011, as a couple. The rooms were standard but very clean & cleaned every day with fresh towels, the all inclusive option was fanatastic the food was lovely & fresh, the location of the hotel was brilliant it is on the beach next to all the bar's & shops. we visted the waterpark once during our trip & also had a day trip over to formenta, which is a must see, it costs us 20euro return ticket & takes 40mins to get there but it was so worth it, the island was beautiful.
we are booking our return trip for aug 2012 & will bw returning with our children. Would like to thank the hotel for a lovely week in Ibiza. <3
