“Overall very good to stay-if your on a budget!!!!”

We stayed here in may 2011. The location was great!! Lots of bars down by the beach so you were never bored! & in the evening it was 5 mins walk to the strip of bars!
The hotel itself is clean. We stayed half board, and there was enough choice for us to choose from! It is very basic, but we didn't stay there all the time and the room was adequate to go back to. Just don't expect 5* luxury! The staff are friendly and helpful. If I ever get a chance to go back to Ibiza to party, and was still on a budget, I would definatly pick the algarb again!!

“The bar manager”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

The hotel wasn't expensive so we weren't expecting the ritz, there was a lack of entertainment, we had to actually complain to get any at all and they booked a dance group that rehearsed there act in front of everyone so when it came to the show we had already seen everything.
The beach was full of seaweed and jellyfish and the pool wasn't chlorine it was just normal saltwater.

The food was ok, after you've been there say 3 days you don't even want to eat there as you get very sick very quickly of the same foods

My biggest gripe was the bar manager, poor english, very rude, and i understand the 2 drink policy but when you have a father on crutches and two small children with you, its not worth queuing three times just for everybody to have a drink.
It wasn't all that bad but i've been on many holidays and this was the worst hotel i ever stayed at

“ok.......no frills and relaxing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Just 10 minutes from the airport, we arrived here to find the reception friendly, bright and clean. It was a speedy booking in and we were directed to our room through the massive furnished lounge. Our room was fine, no frills and clean. The balcony overlooked the pool and the beach, however was on a flight path. This wasn't a problem for us as we travelled out of season and there were not that many flights and to be honest that sort of thing doesn't really bother us anyway. We left our bags and went down to the buffet restaurant where there was a large selection of hot and cold food, they even had show cooking every meal time with different things being cooked fresh for you in an open plan kitchen. We all thought that this was a nice touch and the fresh stuff was really varied and tasted lovely. Yes there were chips but there was so much choice hat you were not forced to eat them. Unfortunately as we were out of season the entertainment was only on for 2 nights that we were there and it was average, a disco and a michael jackson impersonator. It didn't matter to us but there was no entertainment for the little ones (ours is 16!) so on the evening we saw a few frustrated parents trying to entertain their children whilst indulging too much on the all inclusive booze. The bar closed at 11p.m which was no good for us as we are late starters and unfortunately the bar staff were rude. I know this sounds subjective, but we really did try and were never anything but friendly towards them. On one occasion it rained heavily overnight and we came down to breakfast passed the rather large blankets covering a lot of the flooring in the big lounge as there had been a leaky roof, so I suppose you get what you pay for!.
The beach left a lot to be desired, I wasn't sure who's responsibility it was to clean it directly outside the hotel (apart from the perpetrators themselves) but it was ridiculously unclean, but a short walk away it got better so we spent much of our time on the beach but up the road towards Space nightclub. Platja D'en Bossa is a lovely resort and we would definitely return. We only went all inclusive as it was as cheap as going B&B so we hired a car to explore and didn't feel tied to the hotel really. This holiday served it's purpose: cheap, cheerful, relaxing & a good break from work! A tip would be not to bother booking transfers if you go here as it only cost us 15 euros in a taxi

“a step up from Mare Nostrum”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

Due to closure I was moved to Algarb for the rest of my stay in Playa Den Bossa-. 10 nights.
Same hotelchain as The Mare Nostrum, also 3 star rating- but definately a step up. Its located a 10 mins drive from the airport, a short walk to the beach, boats to Ibiza Town and Formentera a few minutes on foot. Bus stop for Ibiza Town just outside door.

Small receptionarea for such a big hotel- and too little staff at the desk to help the eternal queues of guests. Mostly desk staff turned their backs on me when approaching them. Never understood their behavior. The hotel has a huge lounge with sofas, games, overpriced internet terminals and bar area. Only 2 elevators worked which meant long waiting time on peak hours.

Same thing in the bar- always long waiting time to get your drinks. I did find the bar staff to be friendly and i do understand their policy of a two drinks maximum served in plastic cups. First of all some people does not understand to limit their intake, using real glasses would mean a lot of dishes and glasses everwhere in the hotel- and keeping its cost down they fill the cups with ice in order to save on the drink ordered...

Rooms were ok for a 3 star property, and colorsceme an upgrade from the night-mare nostrum.. Hot water in tub, balcony with chairs and table, telly has 2 english, 2 german, 3 italian and many spanish channels.10 EUr fee for remote. To use aircon you must pay a fee- I did not use it so dont know how much, safe also for a fee. I did have my towels changed daily- no linnenchange for entire stay and cleaning (sweep the floor) 2 times.

The huge restaurant offered varied and tasty food with a bit to suit everyones taste. Showcooking. The most friendly staff was the non-spanish, especially the nice romanian guy in the bar who actually smiled and chatted with his guests, the asian cooks smiled- the rest of spanish staff mostly talked to themselves and tried to ignore its guests. I never learn to understand this silly behaviour.

I did enjoy my stay in the Algarb- but did not find Ibiza and its people interesting at all..

“Ok, nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Rather uninspiring hotel. Dated decor with old furniture and pealing wall paper, which really ruins a hotel for me. Staff we helpful. Had a bit of a to do on arrival, as I booked a sea view double room, only rooms they had were 2 single beds (not ideal for couples), in fairness offered 2 other rooms, one had a double bed but faced the road and had no floor space what to ever. Other was another twin room facing the car park (not sure how that helped). According to the hotel all rooms face the sea, in my opinion no rooms really face the sea they have side on sea view if you twist your head out the balcony. The bedding was awfull horrid sweaty polyester sheets and lumpy poor quality camp bed mattresses. Food was ok, at first hated it, but by end of our stay got used to bog standard all inclusive food... what you'd expect from european all inclusive (not caught up with the rest of the world yet) Drinks only local beers wines and limited local spirits and can only get one drink at a time, so not great when your in a group. Was in a position on the beach where bora bora was walkable but no nice beach bars to pop in to which was what I expected.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the only 3 true sea facing rooms
