“Wonderful Apartment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2007

The bungalows are a recent build and very well done.Spacious and well equipped with effective air conditioning, each having a private walled patio as well as a large patio at the front with sun loungers etc. Immaculately maintained. The reception staff are very helpful, all speak excellent English and are a mine of useful information.
We stayed half board, the meals are all help yourself buffets and of a good bistro type standard with plenty of choice.
True it doesnt have any entertainment and the only bar is in the restaurant , but there are plenty of hotels round and about that do.
Whilst the clientele are mainly german we found them to be the most pleasant and cultured of companions, unlike some of the Brits we had encountered in Correlejo the week before.
The beach is about 10 mins walk away, but well worth it. paradise. Going back in May

“Fantastic”

Very clean throughout, good facilities, superb air conditioned apartments with excellent service (maid service 5 days per week, clean towels 3 times per week and clean bed linen twice a week) and sea views from own terrace.
The staff were all very friendly always ready with a smile. The receptionists were particularly good; polite, efficient and endlessly helpful.
The 'Buffet' style breakfasts and evening meals were exceptional value for money. Eat as much as you like from a wide choice of good food.
Gusts were mainly German but the majority spoke english and were most friendly.
We will definitely go back next year.

  • Liked — Air conditioned and very clean with regular changes of towels and bed linen. Fiendly staff.
  • Disliked — nothing - all good! well 10 min treck to the beach but worth it when you got there.
  • Tips/Secrets — Take a cool bag when you go to the beach.

“Not very good really”

This hotel really leaves you feeling that your years savings were a waste of time. We arrived to find no one at reception could understand english at around 3pm. We checked into our room which was quite a walk away and next to a building site next door. The rooms were suprisingly nice and large with a seperate living room, bedroom and private balcony. The sea view we payed an extra £300 for was 80% obscured by another hotel over the road which was a great pity.

Back down at reception we asked if it was ok to park our car anywhere outside as we noticed others were parking in what seemed an unused bus stop. The receptionists every answer was "yes" "yes, and "yes" so we parked here only to find a parking ticket the next morning for a staggering 90 euros!!When i tld the receptionist all he did was point me in the direction of the police station so i could pay it.I was so angry but they didnt care and just shrugged their shoulders.(By the way please note all parking fines must be paid at the BANK rather than the police station which I found out 2 hours too late).

Back to the hotel- a good ten minute walk to the beach down a steep slope unless you cut through the opposite hotel. The restaurant was small. We were self catering but I really felt sorry for those on half board basis. They were served the same food every day and in little portions. The only bar was situated inside the restaurant and was tiny and closed at 9pm every night. There is no poolside bar for snacks and most definately no evening entertainment, although we did wonder into other hotels to watch theirs, it gave you a massive feeling of insuperiority. Three other hotels were nearby and once you walk into them you feel like bursting into tears desperately wishing you were not staying where you were.

Local restaurants are minimal and a good 30 minute walk away and there are probably only 3 of them. Jandia is a nice drive with several restaurants but still 15 minutes by car.

The second week of our stay really dragged and was not aided by 2 JCBs working on the building site every weekday next door. It felt like they were in our room it was so close and the ground vibrated from 8.30am to 5.30pm non stop. It was awful and made us furious but reception did not care and refused to move us. We just wanted to go home.

This resort is for Germans only. When staff and locals realise you do not speak German they refuse to be polite to you and want nothing to do with you. Spanish people can be far ruder than Germans. That I learnt every day of our stay.

Fuerteventura is not for me. The beaches may be nice but the service (or lack of them) makes you feel incredibly second class. We were nothing but polite all fortnight, but were treat with such rudeness that I would not even recommend this hotel, Costa Calma or Fuerteventura to an enemy.
