My wife and are really not fussy travellers and honestly I will try to give these apartments the most balanced view I can!!
We had previously stayed at the paradise a number of years ago however we spent most of our time around the Colinas pool. As we wanted a last minute break we decided on Las Colinas as we had liked the look of them.
We arrived late evening and as reception was closed we had to pick our key up from the bar. We were given a sheet of paper with some details and directed to apt 26. Ground floor, onto the rear car park with a view of the sea from between a huge pile of rocks and the neighbouring apartments. I had made a request for a pool view however we were unlucky....but never mind.
Location-
A lovely and easy 15 minute walk from Playa Bastian beach and the centre of Teguise.
The pool area is lovely. It is usually very quiet however I would agree with others re the fact that there are still broken beds. In addition I would question how often the pool was cleaned.
The room-
HUGE.............excellent size but nothing in it. Truly you wouldn't believe for how big the space was, how little furniture and appliances there were to fill it. They could make the rooms so comfortable, however they are not. And I know that you are not in the room much, but when you are, you like to be comfortable. The patio was extremely small again for the size of the apartment and the size was further limited as there was an air conditioning unit plonked in the middle of it. The television is coin operated. I have been fortunate enough to travel the world and not seen this.It costs 1 euro for 50 minutes. We hardly used it and so it didn't bother us, however if you were a family with kids I would be a little cheesed off having to fill it.
THE BEDS-
Awful, Awful, terrible, terrible, horrible. They were a total nightmare. We agreed that we had never slept on anything so hard in our lives. It was like sleeping on a concrete floor. Truly it was. I thought we would get used to them however after 6 nights of litteraly no sleep and suffering sleep depravation, I had to speak with reception. I have to say that the English receptionist was very sympathetic and tried to resolve the issue by asking staff to supply softer matresses to put on the ones we had. We tried.... really we did, but they were smaller than the beds and smaller than the mattresses they were put on. When put together it look like a three tiered wedding cake. And we were about 5 foot off the ground. I looked at my poor sleep deprived wife and thought what are we doing? I decided to cut our losses.
Within 2 hours we had left and booked into the Grand Teguise Playa on the beach for the next 5 nights. Bliss. The bed was heaven!!
It's the old adage, you get what you pay for.
Room Tip: Higher floors and not Apt 26
