“Do not stay here unless you are German”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2007

I looked at the previous reviews on tripadvisor and i should have listened, firstly we arrived late and first impressions of what is supposed to be a 4 star hotel were not impressive. It looked more a 3 star or a youth hostel particularly the very long corridors. I was keen to use my spanish but the reception staff answered in German when I did. The signs were in German, the newspaper in German, every holidaymaker was German and we felt the only brits in the hotel. Food is all inclusive and you can see why, it is because the hotel is no where near any bars, restaurants etc. You have to either take a taxi 5 euros or the bus. The other two hotels nearby all cater for German also. The beach was a long walk down a very steep hill so definately not worth it if you have children as it is dangerous in parts. Entertainment at the hotel was absolutely laughable, we left after 10 mins for most of them as they were rubbish. The only good thing was the food, there was plenty of variety and the cocktails were very pleasant each evening and the staff did try to make you welcome when serving the cocktails. However I will not be back, we have stayed at various locations in fuerteventura and i would either stay right on the beach at Jandia or corrolejo.

  • Liked — the food and cocktails
  • Disliked — Too isolated and too many Germans

“Great food, view, pool, staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 May 2007

This a German-run hotel, and although you're in Spain, some of the staff don;t speak Spanish which was a problem, and a source of some amusement, for my (Spanish) husband. They speak German and English, however.

The food (buffet) is excellent (great croissants, jam, grilled fish), the restaurant extremely well-managed, the rooms spotless, the staff delightful and really keen to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. As cliched as it sounds, this was more true here than in any (posh, chic, famous) hotel I;ve stayed in before. Never experienced the entertainment, but there was a great kids' pool (as well as 2 pools) and a handy shop selling all those essential bits like suncream, water, post-cards, stamps, snacks (you can;t drink the tap water) and T-shirts, and internet access too.

Nice, well-looked-after grounds full of exotic plants and a good, quiet location. Great island, lovely weather - a perfect 23 degrees or so. We'll be back.

  • Liked — the view from the balcony!
  • Disliked — mini-fridge didn;t work

“OK for a week and if you are a German”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2007

First off: we normally don't do packages and all we wanted was a week of sunshine and relaxation so our travel agent found this for us (during Christmas when eveything else was booked out).
The hotel is German run and caters to 95% Germans which I guess can be convenient if you only speak German (e.g. animation, child entertainment which is in German etc) but otherwise can also be a bit annoying.
The premises are not spectaculalrly beautiful and not as nice as the photos but clean, staff (German and Spanish) are friendly, food is good (though after a week of all inclusive we had enough of it) and there are 3 pools so it doesn't get too crowded. The beach is a 20 minute walk away but the nicer beach is in Jandia, best reached by cab or bus. Anyway, the all inclusive seems to drag the standards down, we couldn't drink the house wine and certainly did't use the beverages and food supply like others did....I guess I'd rather pay for something I like than just consume because it's free.

Fuerteventura itself is really just a big rock with not much on it, you either like it or not. Weather is always good but windy. We liked the North of the island near Corralejo and the big sand dunes which are well worth the trip.

So, if all you want is a no-brain holiday with guarantueed sunshine and not much else, go for it.

  • Liked — Everything as expected, no nasty surprises. Good fresh food variety. Typical package deal.
  • Disliked — Generally don't like large, soulless, anonymous hotels.....
