“HIT AND MISS”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Bit hit and miss this hotel. In general staff were very good, very hard working and pleasant. The only exception were the reception staff, brusque and dismissive. Not good enough for a four-star hotel.
Food was about as good as can be expected on half board in a hotel of this size. pleasant and interesting with lots of choice. Rooms OK, clean enough but need a refresh.
There aren't enough lifts for floors 1-3 which meant a wait, sometimes about 5 minutes and on one occasion 10 minutes for a very small and temperamental lift. This is a big problem at meal times. Parking is also very poor, not enough spaces and no layout lines, since the average driver cannot park properly anyway loads of space was wasted. It's also very easy to miss the tiny slip road into the huge Iberostar complex, needs much better signage.
Internet access is laughable, only by reception and then very expensive. I had to use it and was frankly hacked off. This is the 21st century and we should be able to access it in the rooms. Very poor.
On check out we were told we could not pay by cc as they had a problem. We could traipse over to the the sister hotel as long as someone came with us or pay by cash which we had to do. Again not good enough for a four star hotel.
The location is fantastic, right by the beach and near to Morro Joble. Couldn't fault it. Pool area is good and well managed.
Despite reservations I would go back to this hotel because of the location.

Room Tip: Don't book floors 1-3 unless you enjoy waiting for lifts

“only positive are the staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Room, below average no iron or tea/coffee making facilities, very tired looking bathroom needed some bleach to help it smell a bit fresher (mould on ceiling) some other issues with room dealt with by management, clean towels & beds made everyday, there were plenty of sea view rooms vacant but these (i believe) were being held for other guests
Food; average, plenty of recycled dishes nothing fresh all frozen veg, plenty of half decent free-flowing wine tho. service was very good from restaurant to bar. pool snack bar did not open until 10.30am so no early morning brew in the fresh morning air i'm afraid!
Entertainment: nothing for teenagers to do at all, animation team were good with the daytime activities tho they seemed inactive for the 1st 3 days of our stay they put some fun shows on in the evening which was a relief from the complete rubbish from some of the other entertainers!! Lots of confusing information regarding use of sister hotel .
This hotel/resort is being advertised has a premier resort by thomas cook rated top on trip advisor other hotels must be poor if this is the standard to go by!!!

Room Tip: you could ask but you will not get!

“delux rooms disapointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

This is the third time that we been to the Palace and the second time in a delux room with sea views.Allthough we found the holiday overall to be average we were disapointed by the delux room, the decore was tired and shabby and the bath room although cleaned well on a regular basis was in need of a compleet refurbisment, when I complaind to reception i was told it was one of the best rooms they have.I shuder to think what the other rooms are like.
The delux rooms have there own pool and are supposed to have cocktails twice a day. We had cocktails on one accatcion and beer and diluted juice the rest of the time along with some tired bits if fruit.
The resturant was well managed but the qualaty of the food has deteriorated with a lot of cheap cuts of meat and overcooked fish.
The bar staff who were overworked were rude and unhelpful
.Although it was a mainly german complex the main problems with the pool beds were the brits claiming the spaces before it was light. We will not be going again

Room Tip: I would not pay any extra for a delux room it's not worth it

“Beware family rooms!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

We are currently at this great location hotel. Service, food - 5 out of 5 for this style of holiday. Unfortunately the vast majority of family rooms come with a view of the main road, noise too. Not ruining the holiday, but a bit of a dampener for sure. We booked owing to the practicality of inter-connecting family rooms, but also described on the Internet as having "fantastic sea or pool views". Not true. Misleading I would say.
Thomas Cook should know this and point it out to us on booking. They kept silent. I suspect the UK Thomas Cook bookings play second fiddle to the big Germany book of business....?

So, instead of getting the kids to bed, sipping a sun-downer, overlooking the ocean, we sit on the veranda, watching the lorries and cars pass by the busy main south-north road (a bit of sea to the left!)

My dad paid for us to come out as his 70th birthday treat, and he's a little embarrassed. not fair really as having the sea or pool aspect would have made it a fantastic 70th for him, rather than a "nice one, shame about the room views".

Of course, I've asked re other room availability. No. Full with other families, and I can see why - they're great (envy).

Anyway, other than that, great. Be sure to ask for a sea / pool view GUARANTEED.

I WOULD recommend this, if the expectations re rooms hadn't been so mis-aligned with reality.

(room 3133/4 FYI, Thomas Cook).
