“Nice, OK, Very average”

This is a Spanish hotel for Spanish people, when we were there, there was only 2 other British families. Your made to feel very welcome. There's no rush for the sunbeds as the Spanish are late risers we had the pool to ourselves most mornings. Food wasn't great, nothing wrong with it but very samey, not a problem you can eat outside in most places for €10. Hotel entertainment starts at 10 with the mini disco for the kids starting at 9, on three nights there's entertainment brought in a singer, acrobats and flamenco dancers, the other nights guests are urged to take part in the entertainment.
This is the second time we visited Cala Blanca the first time it was a thriving fun cove, the second visit bars have closed and it's almost dead.
The moonlight bar is great with brilliant views and friendly staff.
All in all this was a relaxing holiday just what we wanted, but it's nothing special.

“Disappointing - Not suitable for couples”

After staying at this hotel a couple of years ago and enjoying a relaxing break in a good standard hotel we thought we'd have a return visit. The hotel is now under new maagement and is part of the "Globales Group" which is a spanish hotel chain.

Hotel is still generally well maintained but food quality and selection is now poor, hotel is full of spanish families so is now noisy around the pool and the cleanliness of public areas is not up to standard. More staff are needed in the bar/restaurant area to cater for the number of guests, alot of the staff speak very little English.

It is also 55 Euros to hire a fridge and safe for a week which we thought a tad on the expensive side.

“A Wonderful Stay in this Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2009

We've just comed back from the one-week stay in this hotel and I since I've chosen it on the basis of Tripadvisor reviews it absolutely fullfilled our expectations. The top is the staff - so friendly and helpful!! For us, the food was also very tasty and the choice was great. There wasn't a single day we would have been disappointed. Our room was spacy, the furniture was adequate to 3star hotel (well, yeah, we had double bed made out of two singles, so this wasn't so cool). At first, we were surprised with small beaches in this area but in next days we found its charm. In the whole, we perfectly enjoyed our stay and would definitely go again. It's the people who make this hotel - thanks!

“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2009

The resort is very pleasant and quiet with many restaurants and bars within easy walking distance ( The nightlife in the resort is limited to fairly small bars ). The beach is small, but very clean, with clear water which stays shallow quite far out. Its well worth hiring a car to explore the small island/see other beaches, and AV Autos just outside the hotel charge 70 euros for 2 days.

The Hotel is extremely clean, and its seems fairly modern with no signs of it starting to get run down. As the previous comment says, the room fridge is in fact free, despite what the signs say (just ask for a key if its locked) The rooms are big enough, and are modern with every room having a balcony. One thing to note is that only 12 rooms have double beds - All the others are 2 singles pushed together, so make sure that you request a double bed only! Its also worth getting a non sea-view room - as the previous review says, the pool side entertainment that runs all day till midnight, is pretty loud.

I found that the food was pretty good, and the breakfasts are excellent. If I went again I would probably just get B&B, as theres so many other places to eat close by.

Menorca is a really nice place, and this hotel is great for a 3 star hotel.

“Not as good as it could be”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2009

Our yardstick for this Globales Hotel was the Almirante Farragout in Cala n Forcat across the other side of the Cuitadella bay. We have been there twice in the last year and really enjoyed it.
First impressions of the Mediteranni were good, our 4th floor corner room was fantastic, recently refurbished with a double balcony giving sea views over the Cala Blanca beach and cove. Contrary to other reports we had a free fridge although I'm not sure that was only because the maid had not locked it!
After checking in we could see from the balcony the pool area was small but perfectly formed, the sunbeds seemed a bit close together but it was not busy and we could see acres of lawns which would give a bit of privacy. Alas no, next day we settled down to read and as the sunbeds were occupied we were squeezed into a regimentented row. Signs on the lawns forbade moving the sunbeds there for a bit of extra room!
The groundsman does a great job sitting on his ride on mower but I supect his influence has something to do with the "keep off the grass" policy.
There were quite a few families with young children round the pool, mostly Spanish as one would expect.
The entertainment team were enthusiastic and no doubt they do a good job for the children and few adults who want organised games during the day. However the use of loud music to attract punters which was then left on while they played and even longer afterwards was a distraction I could do without. I complained on the 3rd day and the volume thereafter seemed to be more respectful of the needs of the majority of the guests for the rest of the week.
The proximity of the road with passing buses and delivery vans, and people emptying bottles into the municipal glass recycling bin in the car park opposite the hotel, also added to the din preventing the relaxed chill out which we experienced at the Almirante Farragout.
The food was ok but we Brits like our eggs, bacon and beans after some healthy fruit in the morning, so why were the beans missing for 3 days? The dining room is small and can get very busy. Mostly the service is good and most of the staff are friendly.
We usually dine late, as the Spaniards do, and we like a couple of Gin and Tonics in the bar sometime after 8. We were usually the only people at the bar maybe because the price was a bit steep. 17 euros for 3 G&Ts! My tip is order Gordon's gin and draft tonic, the local Mahon Gin is more expensive as is bottled tonic.
The area around the hotel is great, nice beach with restaurants and bars lining the cove. Our favourite bar was the Miramar only 250 yards away.
All in all it was OK but for a middle aged couple looking for peace and quiet during the day it didn't quite measure up. When we return to this part of Menorca it will be to the Hotel Almirante Farragout.
