We had upgraded to a Family Maisonette - the room was on 2 levels with a swim-up pool to the terrace. The room was quite well appointed and spacious. The air-conditioning in the room was good - 2 units (one downstairs and one upstairs) individually controlled and quite powerful. Overall, we were very happy with the room.
The animation team organised a number of activities throughout the day around the main pool - they didn't seem to have many resources, but their energy just made it work (Emily in particular was fab!). We used to have so much fun with the Water Polo that Emily arranged for us to have a match against the Norida Beach which was great fun (and we won!).
Now for the drawbacks - one bar was nowhere near adequate, longest queues that I've ever been in, made worse by the fact it was so warm inside with out any air-con. One buffet restaurant became an issue after a week (we love all inclusive because it suits our needs) even though the food quality was good there just wasn't enough variety. We purchased a "Black Band" to use the other restaurants but they were much the same and you had to walk "Cardiac Hill". The specialist restaurants on the black band were booked by 8.45am every morning. The wi-fi worked on parts of the terrace that were close to the lobby / reception so make sure you sit at the right tables! Even then, the speed was slow and there was a tendency for the signal to "drop out".
During our stay, there was an incident where a Russian woman slapped a 9 year old British boy across the face. The issue escalated and the hotel called the Police, who came immediately. I couldn't believe that this woman thought that her behaviour was acceptable as our children witnessed the assault and were interviewed by the Police - but this isn't the hotel's fault.
The families / couples that we met at the hotel from the UK and all over Europe were very friendly and we had a great time!
We love Kos, and the rest of the Greek Isles - they will continue to be our destination of choice. We've stayed at a number of Mitsis hotels before - but this was the first 4 Star one. We'll stick to the 5 Star ones going forward.
The frozen cocktails on the beach (at the Summer Palace beach bar) were fabulous and very refreshing!
Overall; Enjoyed it, thought that the room was great, but the lack of food variety and the queuing at the bar would prevent us from coming back (although we did take a walk around the Blue Domes and that looked lovely, although on initial research is a lot more expensive).
