Just about to return to Mammis for the 3rd time, 2nd time this year!

I find it ticks pretty much every box. Basic Greek accomodation, but rooms and surrounding area are all kept clean and to a high standard. As mentioned there isn't much in the way of 'self catering' facilities but then who would want to go away and cook? There is a fridge and a kettle.

Air con and a safe are provided for an extra minimal cost.

Pool bar/restaurant is amazing, food is served to a high quality and the music is excellent. Such a variety, something for everyone! I highly recommend the Greek Night!

There is a bus which is fairly regular into Town which stops outside of the property and is only 1 euro 80 each way....far better then walking! Once in Town you can stock up on supplies. A word to mention is that George and Renate are both wonderful hosts and are very proud of their establishment so please bear that in mind and don't insult them by eating or drinking your own food around the pool, there are tables and chairs outside of each room so use that space. They are only trying to make a living.

I can also recommend Pelagos, a wonderful place to eat in Kardamena and Legends, cheap but very nice handbags! All in all a great holiday, enjoy it!

Lovely location, plenty of sun, sea gorgeous but not at mammis, pool area lovely, very cold pool. Food excellent, nice staff, room not clean enough, bed linen only changed top sheet once in seven nights. Real pro blem with midgeys came home bitten to death....... Fleas, mouse, and cockroace in room, found the owner, George pleasent but felt could not approach him regarding, standard of room and no cooking facilities. Weather was hot hot hot, would not go back due to lack of facilities for self catering and felt George Mammis very clicky with certain groups of guests, if your face fits your ok......

I felt I had to write a review on Mammis Beach as I had read a lot of bad reviews about it before we travelled and to be honest I was a little bit worried.

I travelled alone with my 4 year old daughter and thankfully my worries were unfounded.

From the moment we arrived at Mammis, which was about 2.15 am, George the owner was there to greet us along with Dave the barman.

There was an issue because I hadn't printed off my hotel voucher at home for my room at Mammis. George very kindly allowed me to use the internet to locate the voucher and forward it by email to him there and then.

Our room was of a good size, basic but very clean and was kept so daily by the cleaner. The sheets and towels were changed regularly.

The location of the Mammis Beach was excellent. Away from the town itself which suited us fine. It didn't cause us a problem as there is a regular bus service which runs right outside the gates. The last bus back from Kardamena to Mammis is 23.40 which was late enough for me travelling with a little one.

The pool and bar area are lovely and because there are only 21 rooms there is no need to come down early to put towels on sunbeds as there is more than plenty.

We got to know most of the people staying at Mammis and found them all to be lovely and the majority of people I spoke to said they would most definately be back.

My daughter absolutely loved the pool, there was a small park area for her to play in and a childrens pool. The only negative was that there wasn't any other children there for her to play with but a couple came in from other hotels during the course of the week.

George, Renata, Dave and everyone else there was absolutely great with her and I think she made an impression when she decided to sing a little song over the microphone at Georges legendary BBQ.

His bbq is a great night and got everyone together, and its true what they say about his pork chops, they are absolutely delicious. The fact that we won the quiz after was an added bonus.

The meals here were freshly cooked at all times by George or his wife Renata and if you ask George he will do you some of his special mousaka for you.

All in all we had an absolutely fab time. George has got an absolutely beautiful place in Kos and you will understand why he likes to keep it nice when you go.

The weather was fantastic and the temperature was kept bearable by the fact that there was quite a strong wind blowing whilst we were there.

Next time I will definately take the air con though as the room got a bit unbearable at night without it.

Please don't let a few bad reviews put you off going to Mammis. Go and see for yourself and have fun, we did!!!

My husband and I have just returned from a fantastic two weeks staying at the Mammis Beach in Kardamena. We were made to feel welcome and relaxed from the moment we arrived.

George and Renata are marvelous hosts providing a smashing menu which we enjoyed most evenings. Not a single disappointing meal was eaten there. Paniota the waitress and Dave the bar manager work so hard but always manage to have smiles on their faces and time to chat. A reflection of how inviting the Mammis is is shown in the number of non residents who turned up almost every night from other hotels in the area telling us that they preferred the food and drink prices here than where they were staying!

We met some lovely people, other than the smashing staff, almost everyone was sociable and relaxed here. Many people mention Geore's barbeque night and I must concur.....we managed two barbeques and met lots of lovely people. George holds a quiz night when the food is finished which caused many laughs. Great evenings had by all.

The accommodation is very clean and spacious, if basic. Marietta the maid gave us clean towels and emptied bins every day. We were surprised that a couple of people still complained that there were no cooking facilities! We were under no illusions when we booked and to be honest, who on earth wants to cook when on holiday? A kettle and fridge is quite sufficient. The air conditioning is a must in August, so make sure you budget for this. George charges 90 Euros for 2 Weeks air con and the electonic safe.

We spend 4 evenings in Kardamena itself. The town in a lovely 25 min walk or a 5 min but ride (costing 1.60 Euros each) or a short taxi ride (10 Euros) . We walked in and taxied back which worked out well for us. Would recommend Scala restaurant if you want excellent choice beautifully cooked. We ate here twice. Unfortunately there are not too many bargains to he had in the local shops - I guess this is the effect of the £ v Euro at the moment, but we managed a few bits and pieces when we visited the small village of Zia in the mountains. They have a lovely market set amongst exquisit scenery and we spend a whole afternoon here. Hiring a car for a couple of days is well worth it. You can see the whole island in two days as Mammis Beach is right in the middle! We Travelled south west on the first day and north east on the second. Recommend visiting the mountains in both directions - beautiful.

This was a wonderful holiday and we are hoping to return next year for a short break.
