My husband and I just returned from a short trip to Tlaquepaque, once again staying at La Villa del Ensueno. We loved the generous made to order breakfast and the great margueritas. The Villa has 2 sections-across the street from each other, each with a pool. There are many rooms and suites to choose from, each a little different and many with their own patios. In either part you feel secluded and peaceful listening to singing birds and bubbling fountains. The Villa is a very calm and relaxing place enhanced by lovely common areas, where it is easy to get to know the other guests , if you wish. The staff at Reception were most helpful and accommodating. They even sent someone to pick up the dishes we had bought and then had packed at a local ceramic factory, so that we could make our flight. The hotel is a short walk to the main shopping street, which has many wonderful shops and restaurants, many in converted mansions. We especially enjoyed the mariachi bands at Parian. On Sunday we took a taxi into Guadalajara for about $8 US and walked around the center but found that we missed the easy pace of Tlaquepaque, where we enjoyed being able to walk all over town day or night, although taxis are readily available and inexpensive. I highly recommend La Villa, if you want to stay in lovely, peaceful surroundings with a friendly, caring and highly professional staff.
