Hotel San Giacomo is a hidden gem! It is updated, clean, and contemporary without losing its Italian flavor, and run by a great staff. Our son is studying abroad with the University of Kansas (Go Jayhawks!!) at the Institute de Filippi, the local school located 1/2 block from the hotel. We visited him for three days while touring Italy and stayed at the Hotel San Giacomo, which we absolutely loved. Its a good thing we loved it because its the only hotel in this tiny town. The town is located in the foothills of the Dolomites so every morning we threw open the huge shuttered windows and looked out at the mountains - just beautiful! The rooms are in great shape, have very nice bathrooms, new tasteful furniture, and are bright and sunny. The breakfast is very good with a nice assortment of pastries, yogurt, cheese, and frreshly brewed coffee and steamed milk. The breakfast room is on the top floor with many large windows, and the view of the town and mountains is wonderful. There are nice little cafes and tabbachias a minute away, and a bank is right next door! The hotel has a bar attached where locals and students congregate. The quaint medieval town of Asolo is about 10 miles away, which shouldn't be missed. On Sunday there is a great open market a short distance up the road in the next town. If you are planning to visit your son/daughter in Paderno, you will not be disappointed staying at this hotel.
