“comfortable hotel with all amenites at a reasonable price”

We stayed for one night only en route between Sicily and Puglia and were pleasantly surprised to find this totally modern and civilised hotel with first class amenities - free wi-fi and a good restaurant - at a very reasonable price. The staff were friendly and professional. In November, we didn't use the pool , but it looked nice and the beach was just across the road. Amantea too was a nice surpise - a real town with proper shops, not a closed-up resort with nothing open like so many places in southern Italy at this time of year. Comfortable bed, sparkling clean bathroom. Maybe a bit lacking in character, but that's not what we were looking for.

Recently traveled to Calabria to visit Lago and used Hotel La Tonarra as a home base. The staff was very accommodating and went to great length to ensure our stay was comfortable. I would recommend Hotel La Tonnara without hesitation.

“Perfect Location, clean and modern”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

Very happy with the hotel. Most of the hotels in this area require crossing the SS18 to get to the beach, La Tonnara is on a small local road. Hotel rooms have a beautiful view of the beach with the volcano Stromboli in the horizon. Awesome.

Centrally located for visits to local the local towns of Amantea,
Campora San Giovanni, Belmonte, Fiumefreddo. I also recommend the trip to Cleto. You can take a boat out to Stromboli as well.

The rooms were perfect size with LARGE, clean, modern bathrooms. It did not feel like we were in a "shore" motel, this is a nice HOTEL. Breakfast was served in a bright and cheery room, started the day off great.

We had a terribly snoring companion sharing our room on the trip and the front desk moved him to a separate room for us without hesitation. Very responsive to our needs.

I toured the area by bicycle for 3 days and did not see a better beach hotel in the area. This is the place to be.

I did not use the pool (we are on the Mediterranean afterall), but is was bigger than it seemed in the photos.

“We will be back!”

Five of us spent a couple of days at the Hotel Tonnara. The rooms were excellent and the bathrooms were beyond exceptional; the balcony with the view of the ocean and the semi-circular room made our stay wonderfully peaceful.

The hotel owner was kind enough to wait for us until 3am since we were driving from Florence! The staff were very helpful in suggestions on how to check out the nearby town of our ancestors. We enjoyed the breakfast which was included in the price of the room.

We have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this hotel and look forward to a longer return visit to the Hotel La Tonnara!
