We are a couple (33-40) and chose this resort for the clothing optional feature that was important to us! The staff was very pleasant and attentive, the grounds well maintained, the beach beautiful. We managed to get out of the time share "orientation"! The food was good, but had to laugh that the "5" restaurants are actually only "3" with 5 types of cuisine!! Missed out on mexican food!!! The inroom wet bar was nice as they supplied water, coke and beers every morning. No trouble getting beach chairs or pool chairs and the resort was at 100% capacity - so don't pay the $20 reserve fee unless you are very particular on location! Not a great deal of entertainment - and what they did have was very short (1/2 to 1 hour per night) Then diso, then hot tub for the daring. Got a little tired of 'routine' with no other options of what to do! At least at hedo we could play pool, ping pong, go to the piano bar, then the disco or hang in the main area (way more shows).

Pool closed early - and we got in trouble for taking a nite swim. Couldn't go on the beach at night either (and who'd want to - I got eaten alive by bugs). Excursions from the resort are expensive - and most people there don't go to leave!

We'd been to Jamaica before so it was hard not to compare - our favorite was that in Jamaica EVERYTHING was "no problem mon" - and in Mexico everything was "we have a small problem" lol They were good at fixing them all but definately not laid back like the Jamaicans!!

The experience was positive - romantic - enjoyable! Though making the choice again we go back to Jamaica or try Cuba.......we won't be multiple returners to this resort (we met so many on their 5-13th trip!).

“The English Opinion!”

We are a happily married couple who could best be described as open-minded, non-judgmental naturists. We enjoyed a total of 5 weeks in Temptation last year, so decided to throw a bit (lot) more money at it and try Desire. Here's how it was.......

We got off to a bad start, long flight, arrived in a deluge, Cancun was flooded, waited an hour for the private transfer (Lomas travel) due to the rain. The reception area was uninspiring, and I has to cart my own luggage inside! After check-in we were told we would have our "proper room" the next day. Alarm bells!! We were than shown to the smallest room I have EVER stayed in, TV didn't work, one small drawer space, teeny shower etc etc. After some foot stamping they showed us the room we would get the next day (it's not like they didn't know when we were arriving) and offered us a free couples massage. By then we were too tired to argue so stayed in said rubbish room. Not happy.

The next day the sun came out, we were happily encamped in our super duper room and smiling again!
So, things to know........
Garden view room was perfect. Quiet, comfortable, spacious. Bathroom roomy with plenty of towels, shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, body lotion, lots of hot water at all times. And the "Adult" channels on TV the same as at Temptation.

Pool area was run by Daniel who allocated you loungers, usually in a different place every day, only he knows how the system works! But we always got a bed and a brolly so no arguments there. Beds were super comfy, with thick mattresses, toweling covers, towels and pillows, perfect for the afternoon siesta!
Pool was small, with no swim up bar, but a nice temperature. A little too deep for me (I'm 5'2") to stand and hold a drink and chat, so it wasn't a very sociable pool, people tended to stick to their own beds, in fact it was very quiet round the pool during the day, unlike Temptation where the party started around 10am, and this surprised me.

Likewise with the entertainment during the day. The 3 girls, Vanessa, Raluka and Paula were lovely sociable young things who always had a smile and a hug for you, but the games they organised always seemed a bit tame (especially for this kind of resort) and over in a jiffy. I actually got rather bored in the day by week 2. But we won lots of hats!

The beach area was a bit windy the first week we were there, so didn't really venture down there much. The sand is beautiful, and there appeared to be plenty of beds and loungers, but unless you were on one of the cabanas there was no shade, no umbrellas or anything, and I can imagine this is a problem in the heat of summer.

Food:
Breakfast was great. Hubby said his omelettes were the best he'd ever had, the only disappointment were the smoothies, which were mostly made with fruit flavoured yoghurt, rather than fruit (Temptation wins again).
Lunch was in the open air near the pool (bottoms required). Same almost every day, salad, fish, steak, chicken, fajitas, burgers and hot dogs cooked to order. Bread was very disappointing, couldn't make myself a decent sarnie! Again, got a bit bored by week 2.
Dinner was either in the buffet (did it once), the International or Asian. You only have to book if you want to do the Teppanyaki, but please do as this was the culinary highlight of the trip!
There was a choice of Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc for us white winos, and the Sauvignon was very good and flowed freely!
Menus in the restaurants were a little limited for those of us there for 2 weeks, but we never went hungry. Special mention to Javier who got the chef to cook me a plate of pasta off menu one night when I was struggling a bit.

When the sun was going down we tended to congregate around the lobby bar for excellent coffee, hot chocolate and Baileys and a chance to chat and laugh with fellow guests. Obviously a lot of other couples went up to the Jacuzzi lounge at this time of day. We did venture up there once or twice but there were far to many bodies in the tub for my liking. we also went up a couple of times later at night when it was quieter, but still quite educational!

The evenings were the most fun. Dress as sexy as you like! We liked to dress elegant sexy for dinner, then change to match the theme of the night (see the website for the latest themes). The early evening entertainment was pretty good, although a bit too early for our liking as we mostly missed the live bands because we were dining, would have been better starting a bit later. We did see the breakdancers (slated in a previous review) and loved them! (Brits think Diversity, they were awesome), but hated the "Flamenco Pop Opera" - think Spanish Funeral Music to slash your wrists too, what are they thinking?? We want to dance!
Our favourite night was the casino night, lots of people dressed up, gambling with "funny money" and generally cheating a lot (my hubby!!).

Then off to the disco! In sexy clothes, or costumes, or very little (managed to go out one night wearing only a feather boa and some body paint shorts - thanks Nick! Where else in the world can you do that??)
Dance floor was usually full, and barmen usually twiddling their thumbs, this resort is all about having fun, not getting leathered (unlike Temptation). The "sin room" was also educational!

We met some lovely couples here, some who are in "the lifestyle" and others like us who are not, but all were great fun and very respectful. I never felt uncomfortable or under pressure to do anything I didn't want to, and I had loads of fun!

One word of caution, while we were there they were offering, as in many other resorts we have stayed at, free scuba lessons in the pool, with a view to you going on a scuba diving trip. During the second week some fellow guests went on one of these trips, and the dive boat capsized and sank. Nobody was seriously hurt, but just remember health and safety abroad is not the same as at home. Do your own risk assessment!

Conclusion:
Did we have a good time? You better believe it!
Would we go back? Probably, but not right away.
Was it value for money? Well...... for the same price for 2 weeks here we had 5 weeks at Temptation last year. It's hard to compare the 2 as they are do different but both fun, but unless you are going for the "lifestyle" I find it hard to justify the extra money.

Oh and before I forget, on our last night we had a spectacular short lived storm. Best memory of our trip, dancing naked in the rain!! And nobody cared..... :)

Room Tip: Garden view rooms are fab, save some money, you can look at the ocean all day from your lounger!

“High Energy, Fun Crowd”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

As longtime nudists, we have visited nude resorts all over Europe and the USA. This year we decided to add a three night stay at Desire to our annual trip to Hidden Beach, which is an hour's drive south of Desire. This was our first visit to a "lifestyle friendly" resort, so we were both curious about what we would find.

Let's get the public sex issue out of the way up front. There are two locations in the entire resort where open sexual activity is allowed. One is a special room just off the dance floor at the disco, which is furnished with stacks of towels and eight or so "pods" which can accommodate up to four very close friends. The other area is the rooftop hot tub area which offers the hot tub (duh!), a bar and a half dozen palapas (queen sized beds suspended on ropes.) Plus a bunch of sun loungers that are more comfortable than the ones by the main pool. So, if what you're looking for is a simple nude vacation, just stay out of these two places. We're not swingers, but as several other reviewers have noted, the "lifestyle" crowd seems to bring a level of energy and fun to the resort that adds to everyone's fun.

Our room was as far away as possible from the main pool and restaurants, but once we got the lay of the land, that's really not a problem because the entire resort is fairly compact, unlike some of the mamouth resorts in the area. The room was clean and comfortable, but seemed to be edging up on time for a refurbishment.

The all-inclusive food and beverage service was excellent. (An upgrade in the quality of the house wines would be beneficial.) The breakfast buffet was bountiful, offering an array of well prepared and presented standard American, European and Mexican breakfast foods. At noon, the lunch buffet served in the outdoor pool-side cafe offered daily specials prepared to order. For dinner, you have three choices, a buffet with rotating theme nights, an Asian fusion restaurant and another restaurant that I'd characterize as "International, with strong tendancies toward Italian." The food in all three is very attractively presented, and the portions are right--in other words not too big. (Remember, it's all inclusive, so if you want more, just order another serving.) Here's the one rub I found with the food service. There were only a couple of entrees on the two "sit down" menus that really appealed to me, and the list of available entrees was not long. So, I could see that after a few days, the dinner choices could get a little tedious. Still, you're not really there to eat.

There aren't enough lounge chairs at the pool to accommodate all the guests, and a "pool concierge" reserves the chairs closest to the pool for "members". He will put you on a waiting list, and if chairs aren't claimed by 10:30 or 11:00 he will move you to a one of those chairs or one of the couples sofa beds. I found that a a 40 peso tip on Tuesday got us moved quickly to the top of the waiting list on Wednesday. But, we found the sofa bed to be awkward for sitting and reading, and so moved up to the rooftop hot tub, where the sun lounge chairs are actully more comfortable than the ones by the main pool. And, there's a full bar up there.

The beach is not really suitable for swimming, but there are plenty of palapas lining the beach for surf watching. There are the occasional gawkers on the beach, and they must be plenty curious about what naked people look like, since it's a long, difficult walk from the resort to the South.

In summary, a very enjoyable resort, excellent service, good food, decent room and the erotic atmosphere definitely adds a dimension to the experience that, as other couples have reported, can mysteriously re-energize your relationship. We will be back.

We booked our trip to Desire through Castaways Travel in Houston, and they included the transfers from the airport to the hotel in the same price that the resort would have charged for the room alone. That may have been a one time good deal, but it's worth asking for.

Room Tip: There is a significant premium for the ocean front rooms, but the garden view rooms are only steps f...

“Wonderful Trip!”

We have been to Desire Resort and Spa more than eight times. Each time we visit this resort, we are more and more amazed on how smoothly our reservation process was, the transportation from the airport to the resort, the staff at the hotel and the incredible fun we had. These are indeed memories we will be laughing about for many of our years to come.

We have to say special thanks to the incredible staff at Desire Resort, and our incredible travel agency RightConnectionsTravel.com that just makes our trips painless. Our agent Don is amazing, as we always have the best rooms, free upgrades and we even get rates that nobody else has. Here is the secret. Do last minute reservations! When Right Connections gets a cancel, they give you anything paid towards the reservation and you just assume the reservation like nothing ever was canceled. We have saved up five or six hundred dollars at a time. Forget booking online and call them! They even have rewards that work all of the time, unlike our airline rewards.

Hints: 1) Buy a bed on the beach. Desire rents beach beds for $20 a day. Yes they have 30 free ones, but we are not into getting up at o-dark-30 to try and save a bed that will probably be occupied when when you finally get up at 11:00am after partying your butts off all night. 2) Bring your own bug juice. The stuff you buy there STINKS. Stay off the grass at night and you probably won't get bites anyway. 3) Bring a floatie for the ocean and the pool and just leave it there when you leave, The employees use them for guest beds at their homes. 4) Tip your bartender and pool waitress the first or second day. Yes, all your tips are included, so you do not need to do this, but when you do, it is like having a personal servant from that moment on. They make about ten bucks a day, so you can imagine how a five or ten dollar tip for just the special ones works for you. 5) Bring a good attitude and leave your "street rules" at home. At home you are not supposed to approach other married people and be suggestive, at Desire you ARE supposed to be friendly to everyone and joy will come to you. Momma always said "yer not gonna get anything ya don't ask for."

Room Tip: Building 1300 or 1400 by the pool. This gives you great access to the pool, restaurants, beach at G...
