“Just a few things need to improve”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This was our second stay at Royal Pines and we enjoyed our stay again. Stayed in the new executive suites on the top floor (22nd). We did like the room but it didn't blow our minds. Yhe spa was a real let down and was smaller than those in the cheaper spa suites. At $315 (with reservations saying this price is likely to rise) possibly not worth it - lets say I wouldn't book this room type again at this price or especially a higher price.

We really enjoy staying at Royal Pines but there are 2 things they need to improve:
1. Don't boost about having 4-5 restaurants if only 1 is open on Sunday - Tuesday. They should at least open 1 more restaurant so you have some choice (also open One Spa 7 days a week)

2. Yes the Ladies Masters had been on and I was trying to get a game in a teams event but trying to get a game of golf was like pulling hens teeth. I tried to book on 3 separate ocassions and still missed getting a game. The golf operations Manager or his staff (he failed to return my call twice) are poor at passing on messages or returning calls. I was bounced around on the phone between reservations and the switch on numerous ocassions and then told to book through Go Golfing it was discouraging to say the least

Overall we really like Royal Pines but there are a few things they need to improve to deserve a higher rating

Room Tip: go the executive spa room rather than the rooms on the 22nd floor

RPR23, General Manager at RACV Royal Pines Resort, responded to this review
5 March 2012
Dear BigBubbaNewcastleNSW
Apologies for the delay in response - and my thanks for your thoughts in your review of your stay at RACV Royal Pines Resort last month. Our Executive Rooms are becoming more popular as the surcharge for the higher room category includes breakfast for 2, all day access to the Executive Lounge with complimentary nibbles and tea/coffee, and evening canapaes and drinks for 90 minutes daily.
In regard to restaurant opening hours, we are reviewing the operational evening and endeavouring to ensure that a minimum of 2 restaurants are open each evening with four restaurants open on weekends.
It was disappointing to read about your frustrations in trying to book a game of golf - the demands of the RACV Australian Ladies Masters golf tournament meant that we were unable to offer as many playing rounds as we would have hoped over that period. .If you are coming back this way again please copntact me directly on john_morris@racv.com.au as I would like to offer you a complimentary round of golf for 2 people.
Kind Regards
John Morris

“Value for money for the whole family.”

We recently stayed at Royal Pines Resort and absolutely loved it.This place is clean and tidy with great service from all the staff.Breakfast and dinner at the resort was great and reasonably priced.Although the kids playground was not open for most of our stay due to flooding, the kids enjoyed it when it did open. The pool and surroundings were well presented. However, if you book ask for email confirmation as verbal agreements don't always get communicated well.We hired a car and did our travels which is very easy to do, but I highly recommend this place.

We have stayed at RP previously when under the Crowne Plaza banner. Under RACV management it is vastly improved. Friendly helpful staff. Rooms now in great condition. Even the air conditioning works well and is unobtrusive. Breakfast is as good as any we have had around the world and the two meals we had in Amicis restaurant couldn't be faulted. Value for money great. Two minor comments. The central bar/cafe shuts very early. Perhaps that's to benefit the restaurants but it would be great if it stayed open. And as indicated to the previous managers more emphasis on walking tracks both construction and signposting would be a huge plus. Frustrating to look at all the inaccessible open space of the golf courses. All in all highly recommend and definitely will be returning.

“Great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Got the accomodation from Wotif, the Racv Pines is a great place to stay. Good staff and great resturants, very close to Surfers. Free shuttle bus is great and well organised.

Room Tip: Travelled from Townsville to Brisbane then caught a bus right to our door. We had a good view of the...

The wife got a good deal on Wotif for a Saturday night. Great room overlooking pool. Large and airy. The girl at the front desk needs to smile and say hello, but was quick getting us in, quite early. The buffet was very good, included in price. The only down side was we could not get into the restaurants we wanted as they were booked out. Has to say something. We will stay again.
