“lovely hotel, newly reburbished”

We had a great week here in mid-September. The decor and soft furnishings looked as if the place opened yesterday. Good choice of food at the pool bar and pleasant staff. Our holiday was great value for money. Lovely pool also and no shortage of sunbeds. Just a short walk to the main strip which has a big choice of bars and restaurants.

Room Tip: All rooms either look over the pool area or an olive grove at the back. All roomas have shutters as...

“pleasurable autumn break”

Travelled to Zante 2nd October just for one week and what an excellent choice of hotel. Five minutes walk down the lane to the main street with Clubs/ Bars/Restaurants but being this time of year not a lot of 18-30's, a further 20 minutes would take you to the beach.
The actual hotel is very tastefully decorated, rooms were adequate, cleaned regular and ideal for ones needs with the exception of the shower which you could not really turn around much. Went for the option of self catering but could have Breakfast/evening Meal for extra charge of which tried the evening meal a couple of times and found good value 4 courses for €12 (Vivienne a great cook) who also prepared bar meals also good value. Drinks at the bar I found no more expensive than some of the places in town.
The staff and management would join us in the evening at the bar and made everyone feel very welcome, I would certianly go back.

Room Tip: I'm lead to belive if you mail the hotel they will try and accommodate your requirements.

“lovely hotel, but laganas is a bit sad”

I've just returned from a week's stay. We had a very relaxing time. The hotel itself is basic but clean, simply decorated and has a lovely pool and nice bar, with quick service. gentle music in the bcakground, nice view of the hills, lots of discreet plants. Always had our pick of sunbeds, and the staff were quiet, attentive but never intrusive - always helpful in a quiet smiley way. It's set up a winding road from the main town, about 15 mins walk - just what we wanted. It's a good base.

Dont go into Laganas though - it is horrible now, with hundreds of british pubs and pr folk waiting to pounce and try and entice you into their establishment. I went to Laganas about 12 yrs ago, when it had a few restaurants and a nice beach --- but now it is is totally ruined. Every restaurant does every type of cuisine - pizza, pasta, eng breakfast, mexican, chinese etc etc. horrible and a bit sad.

Walked down there one day and immediately jumped on a bus to zante town to get away from it. another day took a bus to kalamaki beach - much more like the greece of my youth: nice quiet beach with a bit on the famous turtles, the odd nice bar. walked up to tavern sarakina one evening too which is worth a look - authentic greek cuisine in a lovely setting with traditional music and dancing.

“What a waste”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

Last week we stayed at the Hotel Pallas in Laganas which lied outside Laganas strip and therefore would be quiet and relaxing. Totaly wrong !! The hotel feelded like a former GDR state-hotel. Staff had no idea of running it properly, doiing the best you can to serve the paying guests and avoid any complaints.
Helas, all compains in reviews as far back as 2007 are alive and kicking today. Staff is overwhelming self-sufficient and looking out for every oportunity to ask extra money for any poor 'service'.
We, the guests, were kept awake every night by barking dogs (even the hotels own dog laying on a chain next to the hotel), chickens, crowing roosters at 03.00 and buzzing musquitoes. Shutting the terrase-doors was no option because of the heat in the room. The airco costed extra money and was very noisy and so that was no option as well.
The old mini-TV had only 8 rustling Greek channels wich is very poor regarding exclusively foreign hotel-visitors.
Breakfast was also very poor with only bread, two flavours of jam and the worse crisps ever. By paying an extra € 2,50 !!! you could get an fried egg & bacon .
The diner (served at 20.30) was miserable and minimal. So after tree days we ended up eating elsewhere for the rest of the week!
There was nothing to do. We once had the experience of a bingo and barbeque at the pool, but that was it.
Not even the timetable of the bus was available at the reception nor had the receptionist any idea about stoppingfrequency of the bus to the nearest town.
The pool was the only nice place, but when the special bar-TVs had any footballmatch spotted, then the volume was turned highest level even when only three of all guests in the pool where watching.

We were counting down the hours to be freed to return home.
Working hard to earn ones vacation it is a shame that that a hotel is so arrogant to flush your hopes down the drain and doing that, regarding more than 70% of the reviews, year after year. Criminal.

We would definately never stay here agin!!!

“Excellant Hotel In a Handy Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

Cant really fault the Pallas it is pretty much as everyone else says, spotlessly clean, nice modern, friendly, good music and sound system at the pool. Sunbeds and umbrellas are all free and some good shady spots around the pool if you dont want to be in the sun allday. You will need the aircon if it is really hot as if you leave the patio doors open you will get bitten by the Mozzies and the cocks and dogs (not the ones comeing back from town) will keep you awake at night. Im not sure but if you want a fridge it could be cheaper to book self catering as you will be in the same rooms as the non sc and i think it wasnt any dearer and you would have the fridge included. Breakfast was very poor with weak orange squash, the worst cornflakes ever and toast, but you could get a good cuppa ! Didnt really like the island or town much as not very picturesqe and if the weather is poor there isnt much todo, probably better if youre with group of friends rather than a couple.
